(((((rudy ping))))
Wow. National Review jumping on the Rudy bandwagon? What happened to NR?
National Review? Reads like USA Today.
"Giuliani, increasingly unpopular over a series of police shootings, faced off on his call-in radio program against Margarita Rosario, the mother of a young man who had been shot and killed by two detectives four years earlier. Rather than accept Rosario's version of events, Giuliani challenged her at every turn, carefully recounting the details of her son's encounter with the police and his long rap sheet. At one point, he bluntly suggested the blame for her son's death might lie with her own poor parenting: "Maybe you should ask yourself some questions about the way he was brought up and the things that happened to him."
The thing that gets me is that so many of the people that are so against Rudy are actually the ones that would love him the most if they saw him in action. The above quote is an example. What I always liked about Rudy is that he's an unapologetic, sometimes vicious logical thinker that doesn't take any crap from anyone.
I know it sounds crazy to some and I know he's weak on social issues, but I do believe Rudy's policies will be far tougher than Bush's. Not only in the WOT, but fighting the Dems here at home.
I do, therefore Giuliani does not warrant my respect.
Oh joy, yet another beltway/NYC elitist trying to spin us into the faux conservative of Guiliani.
Guiliani is making a Dukakis mistake.
He should just admit he is a typical lawyer liberal and be done with it.
btt
A good friend of mine was the architect of Giuliani's welfare reform program in NYC. Same guy also designed Wisconsin's program. He is now in Israel reforming its welfare system. This guy is a dyed-in-the-wool "movement" conservative who worked in the Reagan administration. So I know that Giuliani does employ and inspire conservatives, and agrees with conservative philosophy on many domestic issues.
This article is marked as being from "Free Republic," but linked to at "the Weekly Standard." These two publications are often confused, but rarely cross-linked. I, therefore, presume it's a mistake, especially since I am a regular NR reader and never heard of the authors.
This guy is trying to cover up Rudy's liberalism by saying he only did it to win elections, as if that makes him any better! It makes him a typical rule by poll politician, something we do not need. Besides that he is a real, died in the wool liberal with an R after his name. We don't need this piece of crap in the whitehouse.
What we are witnessing is the redefining of conservatism...
