Liberals Rick Caine and Debbie Melnyk are disappointed after investigating Michael Moore.
"But according to Mr. Caine, 46, an Ohio-born journalist and cameraman, the freewheeling persona cultivated by Mr. Moore, and the free-thinking rhetoric expounded by his friends and associates were not quite what they encountered when they decided to examine his work. 'As investigative documentarists we always thought we could look at anything we wanted,' Mr. Caine said. 'But when we turned the cameras on one of the leading figures in our own industry, the people we wanted to talk to were like: "What are you doing? Why are you throwing stones at the parade leader?"'"

"In part the 'stuff' amounts to a catalog of alleged errors both of omission and commission in Mr. Moores films, beginning with his 1989 debut, 'Roger & Me.' That film largely revolved around Mr. Moores fruitless attempts to interview Roger Smith, then the chairman of General Motors, after his company closed plants in Mr. Moores birthplace, Flint, Mich.: an interview that occurred, Ms. Melnyk and Mr. Caine said, although Mr. Moore left it on the cutting-room floor."
"'Im still a big proponent of "Roger & Me," especially for its importance in American documentary making,' said John Pierson, the longtime producers representative who helped sell the film to Warner Brothers and now teaches at the University of Texas in Austin. 'But it was disheartening to see some of the material in Debbie and Ricks film. I wouldnt say I was crushed. Im too old to be crushed. But my students were.'"
Ms. Melnyk added, We were very lonely.

Oops. Sorry, found it and will be watching soon!
According to the liberal loonies (redundancy alert) you can say anything about Bush you want and it's a documentary and probably be nominated for an Oscar.
You just have to include one factual thing. So if the rest was 100 percent baloney but you included the fact he was born in 1946 it's a documentary.
It's like Hillary claiming as a child she babysat poor Mexican kids at her church. She grew up in Park Ridge, IL which even today has maybe 10 hispanic people.
You won't be disappointed...don't be surprised if you find yourself loaning it to friends and family that are wobbly on the 2nd Amendment...it makes a pretty compelling argument!
Funny you say that, I went to dinner with my inlaws last night and left at 7:55pm because they were planning to watch the oscars
Michael Moore-on created a whole new genre.... the "suckumentary"........ he has single-handedly done more to degrade and then obliterate the standards of factual "documentaries" then anyone else..... and now we have the grotesque spectacle of Albore winning the Oscar for HIS suckumentary.
So once again, the smartest people amongst us have just draw the same conclusion most of us have known for years.
Regards, Ivan
Did you watch it last night? It was actually a classy and political-bash free event.
