Titanic Blasphemy
Charleston Gazette Forums ^ | 2/26/2007 | Pastor Terry Hagedorn

James Cameron and Simcha Jacobivici claim to have raided the lost tomb of Jesus. Proof? There are related people in a graveyard with the uncommon names Joshua, Mary and Martha! Oi vey!

Despite the faith of a millions of people in the Gospel (I Corinthians 15:3,4—the death, burial and resurrection of Christ for our salvation) and despite the fact that the resurrected Christ was seen and touched by his disciples, all twelve Apostles, over 500 hundred witnesses—at one time; and, despite the fact that devout Jews changed the day of worship from the seventh day to the first day of the week—to commemorate His resurrection and despite the fact that I know He lives—because He lives in my heart: James Cameron wants to act like he is the king of kings of the world! Titanic mistake! One day James will stand before the Christ he blasphemed. (Philippians 2:9-11)

"Simcha has no credibility whatsoever," says Joe Zias, who was the curator for anthropology and archeology at the Rockefeller Museum in Jerusalem from 1972 to 1997 and personally numbered the Talpiot ossuaries. "He's pimping off the Bible … He got this guy Cameron, who made 'Titanic' or something like that—what does this guy know about archeology? I am an archeologist, but if I were to write a book about brain surgery, you would say, 'Who is this guy?' People want signs and wonders. Projects like these make a mockery of the archeological profession."

Her novel was based on the digs and mystery, yes. I love all of her books.

" People want signs and wonders."

Heh. Someone lurches into honesty, but I don't believe I'd be letting the cat out of the bag, Brother. Exempting religion as the only arena where wishful thinking works, doesn't work.

"He's obviously trying to feed off the interest in The Da Vinci Code."

Bingo. My take also.

Joe Zias, a physical anthropologist and archaeologist who formerly worked for the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) but was let go during a budget squeeze in 1997... in August 2003, Zias (unnamed) had given a sworn deposition to the Israeli police swearing to having seen the ossuary in the antiquities shop -- without "brother of Jesus" on it.
update:
Former IAA employee Zoe Zias told several archaeologists and BAR editor Hershal Shanks in 2003 that he had previously seen the James Ossuary in a Jerusalem antiquities shop without the words "brother of Jesus" at the end of the inscription. At the trial, he admitted he had not seen the inscription and could not read it if he had. -- Joe Zias Under Oath | Excerpts from the Forgery Trial of the Century | Biblical Archaeology Society Staff | 06/14/2012
