The 20 Rarest Muscle Cars

Among muscle cars, there always were a few that, for whatever reason were a little more rare than others. This list shows the rarest factory built production muscle cars. These are cars that ANY buyer could walk into ANY dealer and conceivably order. One off cars for company executives, dealer modified cars (Yenkos, Baldwin-Motion, etc.) and purpose built race cars (427 Cobras) are not included. Cars are ranked by total built by year, model, body style, and engine. Transmission breakouts are also shown, if known. Further breakdowns (by color, options, accessory) are either impossible to get or impractical. Note that by their nature, Hemi Convertibles are widely represented on this list. Convertibles represented everything that the typical muscle car buyer didn't want - a higher price, more weight, and generally lower top speed. Add to that the high performance (and high price tag) for the Hemi engine, and it is no surprise that Hemi Convertibles are the most rare of all muscle cars. In fact, throughout the Hemi era (1966-1971), Chrysler built 8,420,000 cars, yet only 179 of them (1 out of every 47,000) were Hemi convertibles. Truly, as a group, these were the most rare of the rare.

Hey all.

There is one car of note that does not appear on the list above.

It can be called the only 4 door Muscle Car. There were only 5 ever made and it is definitely deserving of a place on the list.

It is the 1963 Ford Galaxie 500. The one I speak of had a 427 cubic inch motor and a 4 speed transmission and dual 4 barrel carbs. It put out an amazing 425 horsepower.
Top end was over 120 mph.

I think in 1969 pontiac built a Firebird with a 6 cylinder engine and a 4 barrell carbureter. ver rare.

My mom had a 70 Cuda, my dad sold it and she is still pissed at him after almost 20 years.

Thanks for a trip down memory road.

If only still had any of them I once had. My first was a '65 Plymouth Belvedere II, 2dr Hdtp, '383' 4-speed. No Hemi, but it still got down the road just fine.

In fact, I never did have a Hemi, but also had a '71 '340' Duster, 2dr Hdtp, Auto (wife preference).

My last was a '70 RoadRunner, Red '383' 4-speed, Air Grabber Hood.

If only I knew then what we know now **sigh**

A British company has developed a product called "Spray-On Mud" so city dwellers can give their expensive 4x4 vehicles the appearance of having been off-road for a day of hunting or fishing without ever leaving town. The mud is even filtered to remove stones and debris that might scratch the paint. According to the company, sales are going well.

There is something within each of us that values how we look on the outside more than who we are on the inside. It causes some people to pad their résumés or embellish their memoirs. But it has no place in our lives as followers of Jesus.

Paul warned Timothy about people in the church who had a form of godliness but denied its power. "They will maintain a façade of ‘religion,’ but their conduct will deny its validity. You must keep clear of people like this" (2 Tim. 3:5, Phillips). The inward reality of Christ is what counts, because it will produce the outward signs of faith.

Paul’s authority to instruct the church about spiritual authenticity came through his suffering, not by "spraying on mud." "I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus," said the apostle (Gal. 6:17).

66-383, 335hp Charger here and a 68-440 Charger with no power steering, brakes, or AC. Was made to go straight and fast.

Yup. Actually, the 5 built were made to be police vehicles since they did come with a beefed suspension and some other goodies.
Then the fastback came out in late '63 and the bad guys could get the 427 too.

Greetings fellow FReeper Motorheads!

I've spoken with FReepers who have owned many fine machines over the years, but I have seldom seen reference to any current rides. So what do y'all drive?

I'm currently building a '37 Chev pickup. It's a complete ground-up build with me (and a very tolerant brother!) doing everything myself. Designed to be a cruizer, I've set it up with 4-wheel independent suspension - Jag rear and Fatman IFS. Power comes from a Camaro Z-28 TPI-equipped 350 thru a 700R4.

If you're ever seen one of these trucks you would know how tall they sit (stock), but I've lowered mine over 12 inches (and still have plenty of ground clearance).

I'm keeping the original body styling as intact as possible, but have joined the front end sheetmetal together and hinged it forward to make a tilt front.

Out back I've rebuilt the bed with strong, but lightweight steel frame to support the rams necessary to make it a tilt bed.

Inside I'm adding enough creature-comforts to make it user-friendly on long trips. I'm hoping to launch it (pun intended!) on its maiden voyage this fall.
