Trust me on this, if nominated, social conservatives and Evangelicals will go third party of stay home.--Hydroshock

... which means--trust me on this--social conservatives and Evangelicals will be placing their de facto vote for hillary clinton.

Did you ever wonder why Hillary Clinton is, apparently, more tolerable for these REAL conservatives, than is Rudy Giuliani?--LtdGovt

Excellent way to put it.
They think Rudy is too liberal so they would help elect a Stalinist. Makes abundant sense.
This move is even more irrational than meets the eye.

WHY THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT MUST MOBILIZE AGAINST HILLARY:
CLINTON CONFLATES EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS AND ISLAMO-FASCIST TERRORISTS

AFTERWORD: A Note to the Religious Right

I want my country to win the war and wipe out terrorism. The other issues won't mean a hill of beans if we're all dead.--Miss Didi

Great bottom-line analysis, Miss Didi.

Excuse me, Doc...but did you even read the article? Of every pundit/pollster in the biz, Michael Barone knows his stuff.

From the article

National upshot: Rudy's electoral vote position against Hillary is much stronger than Bush's against Kerry. Rudy puts almost the whole East into play and is significantly stronger in several target states in the Midwest and West. Hillary puts some states into play in the South but with many fewer electoral votes than Rudy does elsewhere. Even if you assume that Hillary is stronger against Rudy today than she was in July, the pairing does place the Republicans in a stronger position than Bush was in '04.

I think it is going to be Rudy vs. Hillary. I expect several other candidates will drop out over the next couple of months. Lack of funds or support obviously being the reason.

What I found interesting in Barone's commentary was the Hispanic vote. When Hillary ran against Lazio, he failed to court the Hispanic vote. I recall in particular a specific event where he was to address a Hispanic Business Association and didn't show up due to a scheduling conflict, instead four reps, me being one of them. There were over two thousand people there that night, and it felt like each and everyone them expressed how unhappy they were that he didnt attend. I'm not saying he ever had a chance in that election, however it clearly came across that these people felt he didn't place enough value on their votes so he wasnt going to get them. It wasn't a smart decision on the part of his campaign.

However, Rudy is more politically savvy then Lazio was in many respects. So expect, Rudy won't forget them.

Interesting! Would expect candidates to start dropping out after the March 31st reporting period if they cannot raise the money.

It funny how many so-called convervatives on FR are hellbent on electing Hillary as their president.

It's much more bizzare how many so-called conservatives are hell-bent on running a guy for President that would split the party and give Hillary her only chance to win the White House - a plurality. Just as her hubby won that way in 1992.

As of now, unless some Southern or Midwest governor jumps in on the GOP side, we're looking at, realistically, a three-way race on both sides(though I wouldn't rule out Algore jumping in, more on that in a moment). Hitlery, Obama, and Breck Girl for the RATS, and Rudy, Romney, and McCain for the GOP.

As for the GOP, I truly believe that McCain will be the first to fall by the wayside in the primaries. He's built up too much bad blood with the base in the past six year to honestly believe he's going to get the Bob Dole "It's his turn" nomination. But then again, he didn't get the nickname McInsane for nothing. Honestly, as things stand now, I think Rudy and Romney will fight it out after South Carolina, which way it goes is beyond me right now.

For the RATS, Her Heinousness, Obama, and Breck Girl are the only serious candidates right now. Kucinich will stick around, but only as a sideshow. He has no chance and everybody, including, I suspect, he himself, knows it. Of the big three, as it now stands, Silky Pony will be the first to fall, leaving She Who's Name I Will Not Speak, and Obama. But there's a potential wildcard...

Algore. If the sniping between Hitlery and Obama keeps going, he may well try and pull a Nixon and jump into the race, and if he did, he could very well steal the nomination from both of them. The hardcore leftwing whackos love him, he could raise the needed money, and he'd love nothing more than to screw The Witch.

Only if the "social conservatives" take thier ball and go home like children. I'm not a "Rudybot", a "McCaniac" or certainly a Hunter supporter, but I would vote for any of them...hell, I'd hold my nose and vote for Dole again...I'd even vote for Liddy Dole if it meant keeping Hillary Clinton out of the White House.

Putting that woman (?) in power is not an option under ANY circumstances

As opposed to those in the GOP who think they can diss social conservatives but still demand their vote? Who is being stupid here?

We heard the same kind of talk from the so-called 'real conservatives" in November 2006. The result? We ended up with a an extreme left wing crazy, Nancy Pelosi, as the Speaker of the House, and real nightmare for all Republicans.

Amen
