I think that is a great idea! I think I share your 85% track track record of getting it wrong. Everytime I am absolutely convinced it is a guy it turns out to be a woman and vice versa!

In 1995 after Clinton got a Republican Congress, he went along with the Republicans playing up to conservative on a lot of issues to get reelected. Clinton didn't want to be seen as a liberal going into 1996 as he wanted a second term.

Well then we have to enlist someone to post a thread.

It could be considered political if done to see rudy and duncans supporters age/sex etc. might actually be a thread we could all be on without killing each other ;)

Another bit of proof a hardcore liberal like Rino Rudy cannot win.

My sincere hope is that the VP nomination will get everyone back on board if Rudy is the nominee. I remember in 1980 the fight that went on between Reagan and Bush people that threatened the election and Reagan reached out and chose Bush 41 even though they had been through a not so nice primary. It shocked a lot of people since Bush was pro-choice at the time but it brought the two camps together and the rest is history.

After the primary season is over, most will get on board even if they have to hold their nose and vote like I did in 1996. After seeing the Dems in action since January, a lot of Republican voters are going for the person who can win because the thought of a DemocRAT in the WH is too scarey.

We have to take back at least one House -- my Congressman is the new head of NRCC and working hard to retire the debt in order to finance the next campaign. Our candidates have to do a better job of running on less government and stick to it when they get to D.C. Tired of growing government instead of shrinking. We had some poorly run campaigns and it showed. You have to give someone a reason to vote for you and running on social issues doesn't work today when in many places including Oklahoma you have to have independents to win. Run on less government and taxes and you will stand a better chance of winning IMHO. I am not saying forget social issues entirely but today's electorate is used to sound bites and calling for smaller government is a winning soundbite IMHO.

Amen, Ivan.

The way many Freepers are acting is actually shoring up my preference for Rudy. I am leaning towards him the first place and my disgust for the way people are acting here is actually strengthening by feelings right now. I am not against anyone in this race at this point (except for McCain, who I believe is unbalanced), and I look forward for a good primary season to sort out our '08 nominee. I will support whoever it is, because any of the GOP candidates are far and away a better option than those in the Dem primary who are falling over each other to appeal to the freakishly bizzare lefties.

Well heck, its scientific even.

Figure out which candidate has the highest percentage of male voters vs female voters. which candidate draws the most baby boomers or gen X.

Im constantly told that I missed being a boomer by about two years, which would make me GenX, UGH.

I have a sister whose Genx and they were an odd bunch LOL-no offense to genxers, of course;)

Im just certain, somewhere there is a group that fits inbetween the two, but alas Ive heard nothing:-P

It's almost impossible not to except sinners in this world. I accept sinners, but will never condone sin, even when I do it.

I've actually had friendships, and relationships with homosexuals, burglers, drug addicts,(married one) alcoholics,(married one), fighters, (dad was)adulterers, etc..many who have had abortions, some have had several abortions each, etc..

Jesus never condoned the sin of those he loved and came to die for. He came to save them from sin that was destroying them, to make them free.

Freedom was God's idea.

It is by following the rules God gave us , that we optain real freedom.

Because our founders knew the Word well, they knew that.

John Adams:

"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

"Suppose a nation in some distant region should take the Bible for their only law book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God…. What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would this AS far as your freepmail goes, I'd be glad to post the entire thing.

Thomas Jefferson:

"God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever." (excerpts are inscribed on the walls of the Jefferson Memorial in the nation’s capital)

"Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that their liberties are a gift from God?"

"The Bible is the cornerstone of liberty . . . students' perusal of the sacred volume will make us better citizens."

If you want me to copy all that we wrote in that freepmail I will. I wasn't quite sure why you wrote it to me privately? I didn't ping your friends, you can tell them I answered you.

I agree with everything you said. I think selecting a conservative VP would be critical for Rudy should he win the nomination.

I also agree that fiscal conservatism appeals to the broadest range of voters, although lacking in social conservatism on a couple fronts (most notably gun control and abortion) certainly make things more tricky.

I think it's possible, though unlikely, that we can retake the House in 2008. I'm pretty certain the Senate is out of contention until 2012.

You continue to ignore when Rudy made that comment and what he said afterward. He made that statement before he officially ENDORSED Bob Dole

He made thje remarks while trying to decide, or to let all the liberals know he really was a liberal like they were. Whatever reason he said it, he meant it. Almost all of Clintons policies are like his.

I am a Boomer! My oldest daughter is Gen X and the other two fall into whatever they are calling college kids today! :)

Have two kids graduating from The University of Oklahoma in May -- one with a Bachelor's and one with a Master's.

My oldest daughter got out of the Navy last year.

I have noticed a difference between the friends of my oldest daughter who is Gen X and the friends of my other two. It is like they are worlds apart and want different things. The friends of the younger two are much more Republican and lean conservative for the most part.

If anyone can do it at NRCC, it is Cong Cole. He was one of the best political consultants in the business before he ran for Congress and won. He hit the ground running and has hired some really good people. They have identified the seats we need to keep and ones that are vulnerable for the Dems. Should be interesting.

I am with you on the Senate -- don't think there is any way we can take it back this time. I will be happy not to lose any more seats.

If you have always voted to the GOP presidential candidate, then obviously you really don't "vote principles over party"; now do you?

Forunately I live in Idaho, and we have mostly principled, backboned conservatives to vote for.

In 1992 I just kept thinking , "Clarence Thomas" and I voted for Bush.

When it comes down to if my vote might cause the leadership to go to the democrats, or republicans, I would vote for the Rino, just to keep the Republicans in power.

I can't remember any Republican in my lifetime that has been even 1/10 as liberal as Rudy. This is a year, like no other.

I will be working hard, so that it doesn't come to the place where I have to decide between two evils.

It certainly wouldn't take much of a shift to for us to regain many of he seats - probably 2% would do it. I can't imagine the climate in 2008 will be more poisonous than last year, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Congrats on the kids:-)

My husband is a boomer (47) I am 42 and my GenX sister is 26. I dont see how in the world I wind up an Xer?

My son is 14 and he and his group of friends are very conservative.

Yesterday he came in while I was posting and made fun of FR-apparently it isnt a REAL "forum."

he says its more like a forum that got swallowed by a blog and that the "skin" is crappy LOL (i have no idea what any of that means)

But I did find out that he and his friends post on a site where they animate and discuss politics, the war etc.

I learn something new everyday!

lol

"Repeat it after me:

I, the poster known as [state your screen name] do readily admit that Rudolph W. Giuliani is every bit the social liberal that he himself admits he is, but I, a person who claims to be more conservative than thou, openly, willingly and wholeheartedly embrace and support his liberal positions on abortion, gay unions (also known in mine own conservative circles as "gay marriage"), gun control, open borders, etc, even though it is an act of betrayal to mine own true conservative heart and soul. As all of FReeperdom is my witness, I declare this to be so.

To thine own self be true. The truth shall ease your pain and grease your slide into the socialist Utopian pits of oblivious darkness.

Go forth, my lass, and kid thy self no more."
