Former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack to announce his withdrawal from the Democratic race for president in 2008 in a press conference later this morning.
Not to defend her illegal stealing of FBI files, but what dirt do you suppose might have been in Vilsack's that would have been important here?
Lots of DEMS are rimpting for a VP big. That was alsways his only chance as well. Now Richardson can continue his VP dream.
But sombody should tell these guys that being VP under Hitlery mean you get a shovel and directions for the Ft. Marcy Park detail.
"They were hoping that he'd take all the oxygen out of Iowa"
That's interesting, I hadn't heard that theory before.
But she places it next to the file for Mark Warner.
I guess he saw how nasty Hillary can really get and thought "Oh man, and this is only the beginning - I don't want to be road kill for the Clinton Machine"
Vilsack dropped out almost a year before the primaries start. I guess Hillary wanted him out so that she could have the inside track in Iowa. She probably offered Vilsack a spot in her administration, e.g., Secretary of Agriculture.
Never heard of the man LOL
It's my theory. I believe that most presidential candidates on the Dem side (other than Edwards and some true nutcases) are orchestrated by the Clinton campaign either explicitly (Vilsack) or being encouraged from behind the scenes (Obama). My theory is not so paranoid as it sounds, I believe Edwards is a free agent, but I note that this kind of strategy has been used before. I think it's well-established that Moseley-Braun was used in this way.
He already was. He just didn't know it yet.
The dem ticket will be either Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton.
They want to unite those 2 wings of the party.
I don't think America will go for radical anti-war, though, so I'm more inclined toward Clinton/Obama than the other.
"she would skip Iowa."
And why not?
The early primary in Nevada was set up SPECIFICLY to give her buy "Momentum" from a Democrat Machine-run state, without having to "lurch Left" to win Iowa...
"The dem ticket will be either Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton."
Obama has been groomed as the "Anti-Condi"...
SHE is the Democrat's largest fear going into 2008. Anybody/Rice peels off 20+% of the Black Vote without a Blackface on the Democrat side...
In Iowa, she moved from 10 points behind former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards into a dead heat with him, both winning support from 24% of likely Democratic caucus-goers. Illinois Sen. Barack Obama finished in a strong third position with 18% support. Former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack dropped from last month (he was tied with Hillary) to a distant fourth place, winning just 9% support.
Hillarys announcement bump saw her move from 16% last month to 24% now, while Edwards dropped slightly, from 27% to 24%. Obama moved up from 17% to 18%, while Vilsack dropped almost half of his support, moving from 16% last month to 9% now.
Hillary will never accept a VP slot, especially with Obama.
This clears the way for Kucinich
This helps Hillary in Iowa. Vilsack's wife endorsed Kerry in 2004 before the caucuses, which Kerry went on to win. I have to assume Hillary will pick up Mrs. Vilsack's endorsement again.
One problem for Hillary! though...B.O. wasn't well known at the time she was collecting FBI files, so she probably has bupkis on him. Of course, that doesn't mean the Clintonistas haven't sicced an army of private detectives on B.O.
Who???
Ha ha. Reminds me of that headline one time on a National Enquirer. It stated "Bigfoot Escapes!" I was thinking "escapes?" When was he caught.
That's funny though. Someone drops out that nobody knew was in the race. Reminds me of Kucinech but without the "what, me worry?" face.
Well, he outlasted Joe Biden.
I too have decided to drop out of the 2008 presidential race.
Although no one has ever heard of me, I have no money and no support, I had just as much chance of being elected president as most of the idiots who are still in the race.
