Veterans plan to protect the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington during an anti-war protest next month.
They fear demonstrators may deface the memorial, even though organizers say they have absolutely no intention of doing that.
Two veterans groups say they're concerned because some anti-war protesters spray-painted graffiti on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in January.
The black granite walls of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial bear the names of all those who were killed during the Vietnam conflict. The head of the veterans group known as rolling thunder says his members plan to protect the memorial and, quote, "support our troops."
The March 17th protest is to mark the fourth anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
The press conference we held today was attended by FOX, CNN, ABC Radio, AP, WTOP, WJLA, Age of Hooper and Jeff Gannon.
Look for a report from Age of Hooper later. Richard Becker crashed the press conference at the end. He was madder than a wet hen (or an exposed communist).
FYI.
Ping on "The Wall" and those who stand tall, ping!
The idiot who gave the permit for the anti-war protesters to form within ten blocks of the Viet nam Memorial should be keelhauled and tarred and feathered.
It doesnt take a lot of brains to figure Anti-War peacenik buttholes have no business anywhere near that hallowed ground.
The Government better call out the National Guard on this one , it looks like there may be hell to pay.
Well, we've all seen how the left "honors" things (by spitting on them, spraying paint on them, throwing mud on them...)
I'll bet. They're ticked off that the word's out about them. Us FReepers have known for years that they're the same old Commies that undermined America during Vietnam. Now thanks to the internet, ordinary Americans have learned the truth about them and they don't like what they see.
The Leftists critical mistake was to schedule this at the Vietnam Memorial so soon after they spray painted the Capitol steps. Even though the MSM never reported a peep about it the blogs and talk radio were all over it. That alone ought to attest to the power of the new media.
SEE YOU AT THE WALL!
Richard Becker considers painting the Capitol steps a small incident? Wake up America!

Thank you so very much for what you all are doing.
Thank you Kristinn for all you do for the vets!
Well, considering there were "hundreds of thousands" of antiwar protesters in D.C., according to Becker, it was just a small group who did the spray painting (rolling eyes.)
Ping
I guess according to him someone would have to die in order for it to be a major incident. Just threatening to kill people or just destroying property is no big deal.
BTTT!
See you at The Wall!
Thanks. I'm honored to be working with such men and women. They've done so much more for this country than I have.
Hearst had a reporter there also.
