Palm Springs/Palm Desert Area FReepers: Suggest good rally location, please?

Hello FReepers of the Southern California Desert Communities, we (the team at Move America Forward) have a question for you.

Move America Forward's "THESE COLORS DON'T RUN" caravan (which is the national, cross-country, patriotic caravan that will head to Washington, D.C. and join up with everyone for the "Gathering of Eagles") will be coming through Palm Springs on Friday, March 9th (arriving in the evening/at night and there through the morning hours of Saturday, March 10th).

We're looking for a good location to hold our pro-troop rally stop and press conference there - we want a place that is easy for vehicles to get to (with parking) and that is close to the major news media outlets, and that people in the community are familiar with.

Is there any park, town square, or other location that would work? We don't need a large space for a huge crowd, just enough space for a banner, a podium, and standing room for the media and 50-100 people.

Please post your thoughts here or FREEP MAIL me with your input.

Look forward to seeing you all in just two weeks time!

I would try Civic Center Park in Palm Desert. It is right next to College of the Desert, and near the major shopping center in the area.

Hi IOWA fan: I will ask our team where we stand on that location. We've been firming up a lot of cities and adding new details, and will have more posted tomorrow, but I honestly (personally) don't know about Memphis.

I will get back to you!

I'd go with Torie's suggestion...as well, the studio of KMIR television (local NBC affiliate) is less than a half mile away.

This park was the media staging and reporting area for the California portion of the Gerald Ford funeral activities.

Just damn! You're still among us!! I know nothing, other than the meager bit on this thread....but I'm going to bookmark the date to see what/where/when. Freeper Torie suggested the PD park (he has a place deep up in the coves east of La Quinta).

Torie - pleased to introduce you to Palm Desert's "M Peach" - a longtime cyberbuddy.

Hello to you both. Best. I am not getting out to the desert much. My law practice and some other stuff has me bogged down. Of course, if I became a golfer, I would make time. :)

Cabazon is also known for Desert Hills Premium Outlets and Claude Bell's dinosaurs, which are large scale dinosaur replicas on the north side of Interstate 10. A Brontosaurus and a Tyrannosaurus Rex are included among the dinosaurs. To reach the dinosaurs, locate the Wheel Inn Diner on Seminole Drive. The dinosaurs have been prominently featured in Cabazon since the mid-1960s at the diner, and they were designed by Knott's Berry Farm designer Claude K. Bell. The two dinosaurs are hollow and habitable inside.

I hope to meet you both there - I've put it on my calender! Torie - To help with your law practice, I'll wear my legal briefs (of course, I'll wear pants over them).
