Okay, I know this is a vanity rant and I was prepared to let this issue go but Bill O'Reilly just keeps digging in with his spin in the no spin zone. Today, a caller took him to task for suggesting Shawn Hornbeck didn't escape because he was having fun. BOR shot back, calling the caller a liar and claiming that comment was taken out of context and being exploited by left wing sites. He claims that he was merely pointing out that Hornbeck didn't run when he had the opportunity to and that it was due to Child Sexual Abuse Accommodation Syndrome.
Well, there are a lot of us on this site, which is hardly left wing, who saw that exchange with Greta Van Sustern first-hand. BOR did, indeed, suggest that Hornbeck stayed because he was having fun and there was no attempt by BOR to attribute his failure to escape to an abuse syndrome. Anyone can view the entire segment in full context on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKI5S4wShqo
It wasn't until a subsequent show, after BOR began taking heat for his comments, that he had on a guest to describe Child Sexual Abuse Accomodation Syndrome. And then he had the audacity to pat himself on the back, as if that had been his position all along. He tried to pretend his initial skepticism was not about Hornbeck, but merely a psychological distinction between Stockholm Syndrome and Child Abuse Accommodation Syndrome!
Bill O'Reilly is in full spin mode at the "No Spin Zone." If he were really about "no spin", he would have the decency and the honesty to admit his initial comments were out of line. Instead, he keeps digging deeper and deeper into his lies. Thank goodness we have the electronic media to hold public figures accountable.

First, BOR is a blowhard. Second, it amazes me he often dons the mantle of protector of family values, when he was caught in some pretty despicable sexual behavior with a coworker, which FOX helped cover up because he is their biggest earner.
It isn't an issue of him understanding or not. I have no problem with someone saying "I don't understand" why he didn't run. What I take issue with is his blatant lies. He's trying to pretend he didn't suggest Shawn stayed because he was having fun, when clearly he did. He wants to pretend he was being deep and just trying to draw a distinction between 2 psychological conditions. Clearly that was not the case -- that is cover up.
ummm. I watched the entire segment the night it aired.
He was on a rant about everybody saying it was stockholm syndrome and made it very clear in his opinion that was not what it was and nobody that said it was stockholm syndrome knew what they were talking about.
His argument was that people were mislabeling this situation; that it had to be much more than that because the boy showed no inclination to leave. I watched the whole episode and I was clearly under the impression Bill was talking about the boy being brainwashed as opposed to "stockholm" syndrome. Maybe he should have used the word brainwashed for those that are not quite up to speed on Bill and his thought process. He sometimes assumes, incorrectly, that much of his audience thinks.
Nice try.
Well, I don't know the details there. But it certainly looks hypocritical.
BOR was on The Best Damn Sport Show Period on Fox Sports Network last night....the regulars didn't seem too thrilled.
BULL! That was his later spin. Go back and look at the segment on youtube and tell me where he suggests he was merely taking issue with a psychological term.
Bill's audience of 2.6 million or more a night plus however number watch the repeat(s) and a half dozen of you think this was an issue?
Maybe you should get a tape of the whole segment that night and then think about what he is saying. He sometimes assumes, like I said earlier, that much of his audience does think.
maybe you should have listened.
Billy O is a zero many times over and not worth the time of day. One is better of to watch grass grow than to spend time with the spin artist.
She was kind of hot though. At least it wasn't another guy. =)
sheese
the segment (and parts later thoughout the show) was about it NOT being stockholm syndrome.

I also saw the original segment and find it ridiculous that you still are wanting to beat something that reasonable people have moved on from. Leave the name calling to Olberduche and stick to the real focus of what this is about.
Deep thinkers in todays shallow world generally drown.
All you poor people who don't understand Bill O'Reilly. He's probably done more to protect children from Sex crimes than all of us put together.
