hy did hillary clinton take the bait? The answer is actually quite simple: David Geffen's comments to Maureen Dowd topple the clinton machine's extravagant, fanciful and elaborate construction and expose the candidate for what she is: Defective. Fatally defective.

How is hillary clinton fatally defective? Let me count the ways:

1. the clintons' documented abuse of power ⁴ (redacted via clinton abuse of power!)

1. A WARNING FOR DAVID GEFFEN: Limit your attack to the husband's 'personal life' as opposed to the rape, the terrorism failure and the abuses of power (see above), and hillary clinton will simply play her usual default position... the victim... and get the nomination. 2. The clinton machine response to Geffen is rich: The greatest purveyors of slash-and-burn politics (NB: Filegate and the Barrett report) are proscribing slash-and-burn politics. Give us a break.
   
   Note also the insulting transparency of their tactics: How they are trying to attribute Geffen's personal observations to Obama, how they lie that Geffen has a formal position in the Obama campaign, how they use Howard Wolfson and press releases to bash Obama while hillary poses as some distinct entity above it all, and finally, how hillary clinton is playing the race card by exploiting black cutouts.

RE: a not-so-modest proposal concerning hillary clinton

Dear Concerned Americans,

hillary clinton's revisionist tome notwithstanding, 'living history' begets a certain symmetry. It is in that light that I make this not-so-modest proposal on this day, exactly 64 years after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The context of our concern today--regardless of political affiliation--is Iraq and The War on Terror, but the larger fear is that our democracy may not survive.

We have the requisite machines, power and know-how to defeat the enemy in Iraq and elsewhere, but do we have the will?

In particular, do we have the will to identify and defeat the enemy in our midst?

Answerable to no one, heir apparent in her own mind, self-serving in the extreme, hillary clinton incarnates this insidious new threat to our survival.

What we decide to do about missus clinton will tell us much about what awaits us in these perilous new times.

First, there's a huge difference between men and women in almost every state. Hillary carried men only in California (48 to 45 percent), which has 55 electoral votes. Rudy carries women in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming: 194 electoral votes. That's a huge advantage for Giuliani, though if we assume his lead over Clinton is not as great today as it was last July, not as huge as the contrast between 194 and 55 suggests.--Miss Didi

QUESTION: When was the last time you observed "the smartest woman in the world" partake in our process of political discourse, or, as Charles Kuralt once put it, relish in "the raucous give and take of American democracy?" ANSWER: Never. Hillary-the-person answers to no one....

The upshot of all this vacuity are positive numbers for hillary (such as they are) that are inversely related to appearance frequency, and, more specifically, inversely related to the following mouth variables....

Missus clinton's most critical calculation will be whether she is going to be allowed to remain a stealth candidate.

Will her fraudulent virtual-ubiquity via ads, Hollywood productions, programmed softball interviews, head-bobbing "listening-tour" photo-ops, etc.) while hiding in real time --her "misère play condition," if you will--continue to satisfy the entrenched power in DC?

More important, will it play in Peoria after we expose it for the fraud that it is?

Gore is taking the outside route but definitely is seeking to run. He can ride his environmental hobby horse to the endearment of all the idiots out there, and avoid all the internecine slashing and burning in the process. Gore remembers Nixon after his 1960 and 1962 defeats, coming back in 1968 to take it all. After hillary and obama beat each other up some more, Gore will look like water in the desert to exasperated 'rats.

Maybe but I doubt it. Attacking Geffen is a waste of time. He's not running for anything, and there's no percentage in antagonizing him further.
