LAS VEGAS -- NBA All-Star Weekend in Vegas was an unmitigated failure, and any thoughts of taking the extravaganza to New Orleans in 2008 are total lunacy.

Not a word on the MSM, but WFAN out of NY had quite the discussion about this disaster.
What was the story about one of the hotels' glass walkways crashing down?

Bill Simmons wrote an interesting account of how bad it was in his most recent column. You can look at it here: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/070220
As far as it being a disaster in the Quarter in New Orleans, it won't actually be that much different from any weekend there, but the cameras might get some nationwide exposure.
ESPN tries to fall all over themselves lamenting about racism, but they refuse to address the thug-ism that seems prevalent in the NBA and is going to ruin the NFL if it goes unchecked. Sooner or later they're going to have to deal with it. Or at least acknowledge it, for starters.
Glad i'm a hockey fan
Wouldnt be no sense in being one,if you couldnt act like one.
GO WISCONSIN BADGERS!
Huh? I was listening to ESPN radio on Sunday and the guy was talking about how well-behaved everyone was in that land of temptation. I guess it went down hill after 2 PM.
Is this the old "if you lie down with dogs you get up with fleas" sort of thing?
ESPN is pure evil. They are destroying sports.
The NBA has been stupidly encouraging and cultivating the rapper culture. Why I don't know. It's the middleaged guys like me who used to buy the tickets. Now I won't go near the game because of the hiphop culture, the tolerance of criminal and lazy players, and finally the obviously fixed officiating. It's obvious that certain players get away with fouls. It's also obvious that some teams get preferred refereeing also.
I hope the NBA goes bankrupt and that Stern and the officials get nailed for racketeering.
If I had millions, I'd invest in a amateur basketball league. Teams would be from smaller cities such as Souix Falls, SD, Boise, ID, and Grand Rapids, MI.
* Minimum-age: 20
* Ban on tattoos, earrings, etc.
* 40 second shot clock
* $1 million-dollar salary cap per team
* Players pay for their own expenses (food, lounging, transportation costs)
we're just looking or a lil' some-somethang
Viva Las Vegas...........beeeeaaaaatttchhhh!!!!
Good thing they got Tim Hardaway out of there, or else there would be some real problems.
outta be an Arizona pro sports fan ...granted the Cardinals could use a swift kick to the marbles DAILY, but the D Backs and SUNS are world class and disdained by the drive by ESPN/NY media. They hate use.That includes refrees and umpires...It is legendary here.
