"Responding to bipartisan concern that electronic voting machines are susceptible to fraud and error, the House approved a bill by state Sen. Jeannemarie Devolites Davis (R-Fairfax) that would no longer replace them when they break down"

"It is almost unbelievable to me they would defeat this bill. Virginia is a wealthy state, and all we asked for is $6.50 an hour," Capers said. "While it's a disappointment for those of us who worked for the bill, just imagine the people who are doing the work. I just hope people remember who did this when they go the polls in November."
Virginia is a 'wealthy' state because, in the past, we let the market work. Of course, that's becoming less true every time the G.A. goes into session.
Richmond ping.
Thankfully, this session of the General Assembly is almost over. What is wrong with our state??? (Other than all the government employees pouring into Fairfax County)
Oh yeah, she's the RINO that authored the latest incarnation of the "gun show loophole" bill that thankfully went down in flames.
I don't know. For instance, I can't understand Brandon Bell and his anti-smoking measures. I knew him a long time ago and this just surprises the heck out of me. He didn't used to be such a nanny-stater.
All the libs moving here from the blue states - not just Fairfax.
It's not a valid market when consumers are forced to buy low-quality products which don't perform as required. The faulty electronic 'voting' systems are shoddy, weak, cheap, and unable to do the job of counting votes without full audits via totally independent means. They are a ripoff of taxpayer resources and subversion of voter representation in government.
She may be whatever, but the banning unauditable electronic voting equipment will save taxpayer money and preserve the constitutional right to vote which are conservative principles. The old saw that "a stopped clock is right twice a day" applies in that even a RINO can at least occasionally offer support of conservativism.
Bell has been repeating that bill for a while........
BTW - I'm a transplant from a blue state - but I'm a refuge not a reformer :)
I think I can agree with that premise.
I know he's put that bill out more than once. It still surprises me.
I know you're a refugee - we're glad you're here!
I'm talking about the private sector - the macro economy. The private sector is what creates wealth, not the government. This little idiot from the homeless organization apparently has never taken Econ 101 or she would understand that. Wealth is not created by artifically raising the minimum wage. Furthermore, most people earning minimum wage are teenagers.
In general, I don't think the state holds a gun to your head forcing you to buy anything. People will not buy shoddy products unless there is no alternative. The market will eventually force improvement in quality or another alternative will come into the market. That's how the market works.
However, the government does hold a symbolic gun when it comes to taxes. You must pay your taxes for government services, regardless of quality. There is no alternative to that. Well, you could go to jail - but that's not a viable alternative for me.
Thank you so much :) My husband still says we came here seeking political asylum and he is so thankful it was granted.
Thank you for the clarification.
The local governments were forced to buy the electronic 'voting' systems even when they didn't want them, and they weren't permitted to evaluate the systems.
Their choice, and the states' rights, were taken away.
It's such a waste of taxpayer resources.
