I'm talking about the private sector - the macro economy. The private sector is what creates wealth, not the government. This little idiot from the homeless organization apparently has never taken Econ 101 or she would understand that. Wealth is not created by artifically raising the minimum wage. Furthermore, most people earning minimum wage are teenagers.

In general, I don't think the state holds a gun to your head forcing you to buy anything. People will not buy shoddy products unless there is no alternative. The market will eventually force improvement in quality or another alternative will come into the market. That's how the market works.

However, the government does hold a symbolic gun when it comes to taxes. You must pay your taxes for government services, regardless of quality. There is no alternative to that. Well, you could go to jail - but that's not a viable alternative for me.

Thank you for the clarification.

The local governments were forced to buy the electronic 'voting' systems even when they didn't want them, and they weren't permitted to evaluate the systems.

Their choice, and the states' rights, were taken away.

It's such a waste of taxpayer resources.
