(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MITT ROMNEY, GOP PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL: I think in my view, the people of America want a person of faith to lead the country. They can look at my wife and me and my family, they can see that our faith has made us better people, better Americans, and we share the values of the other citizens of this great land.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
BURNS: That was former Massachusetts Republican Governor responding to a question about media focus on his religion. Romney said this week he's running for president, but on the day of his announcement, he woke up to see this headline on the front page of USA Today: "Will Mormon faith hurt bid for White House?"
Jim, let's pretend that's a question asked of you...Click on link for full article.

CC,
Don't expect a response out of faux Melchizedek here on that one.
Peyote ravings, (Joseph Smith), usually fail in the light of day.

Darn it, and I was all ready to post "Blessings of Exaltation," and "Requirements for Exaltation." Which all but negate the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and his Atonement.
(Never mind me, I am just an "anti.")

They lack only Kool-Aid.
President "Lacks only Kool-Aid?"
That would give great pause, would it not?

Not to be disrespectful of any of the LDS here on FR but they only take 'really good care of their families' if you are also LDS or you are a prospective LDS. Once I declared that the LDS religion was not for me, there was a certain coldness.

Ok, perhaps this is the way it goes. It does not have to do with Mitt's faith, because if it did, the media would be all over Harry Reid whose been a Mormon for a long time. So apparantly its ok to be a Democratic Mormon, just not a Republican one.

As much as I am in opposition to the LDS faith, I DO agree with your statement. The media is biased...no question about it.
What kind of information do you think they will expose IF Republicans are ill-informed enough to send Romney through as our nominee?
The press would be unrelenting. There is sooooo much more to expose about Mormonism than this simple difference of where Christ will reign. The press has not even started. The secret (sacred) ceremonies of the Temple ordinances, the oaths taken there, the funny clothing and handshakes, the belief in heavenly polygamy, to mention just a few.
Send Romney to the general election, and I guarantee you, you are in for the Mormon education of your lifetime!

Are you equating Mormons with that crazed suicide cult
Just the cult part.
But I would still vote for Mitt before
I would vote for rudi.

I know his religion wouldn't be an issue if Mitt was a liberal democrat. Where I live we have a Mormon community. We never have any problem with these folks and whenever we need handy work around our house they are a great group of craftsman. If Mitt becomes the Republican candidate I won't have any problem voting for him as a protestant.
Isn't Harry Reid a Mormon also? NO, he's a Moron.

BIG difference.
I know many Mormons and they are very religious
and moral people. It's their Theology that I disagree
with. But I am not going to argue about that
on this thread.

I have never seen Mormons try to force their beliefs on others
"LOL! The send armies of young suits to bang on every door and proffer that book of theirs."
And Christ told his followers to do just that, spread the gospel throughout the world.
"They profess Jesus Christ as Savior...They do not!"
Um. perhaps a reading of the Book of Mormon is in order for you. Here's a taste. 3rd Nephi Chapter 11"
8 And it came to pass, as they understood they cast their eyes up again towards heaven; and behold, they saw a Man descending out of heaven; and he was clothed in a white robe; and he came down and stood in the midst of them; and the eyes of the whole multitude were turned upon him, and they durst not open their mouths, even one to another, and wist not what it meant, for they thought it was an angel that had appeared unto them.
9 And it came to pass that he stretched forth his hand and spake unto the people, saying:
10 Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.
11 And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning.
"They think they can attain the same rank as Christ: Man becomes God... Blasphemy!"
This doctrine is heavily misunderstood. I calmer look at the bible shows what is meant by that. Being equal with Christ means co-heirs.
Romans 8:
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together
.John 10:
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
Also, if these aren't enough for you, have you ever heard of Saint Hippolytus? He was a great grandson to John the Beloved, lived in the 2nd century after Christ, was a historical saint in the Catholic religion. Here's what he said about becoming as God:
And you shall be a companion of the Deity, and a co-heir with Christ, no longer enslaved by lusts or passions, and never again wasted by disease. For you have become God: for whatever sufferings you underwent while being a man, these He gave to you, because you were of mortal mould, but whatever it is consistent with God to impart, these God has promised to bestow upon you, because you have been deified, and begotten unto immortality. This constitutes the import of the proverb, "Know yourself; "i.e., discover God within yourself, for He has formed you after His own image. For with the knowledge of self is conjoined the being an object of God's knowledge, for you are called by the Deity Himself. Be not therefore inflamed, O you men, with enmity one towards another, nor hesitate to retrace7 with all speed your steps. For Christ is the God above all, and He has arranged to wash away sin from human beings,7 rendering regenerate the old man. And God called man His likeness from the beginning, and has evinced in a figure His love towards you. And provided you obey His solemn injunctions, and becomest a faithful follower of Him who is good, you shall resemble Him, inasmuch as you shall have honour conferred upon you by Him. For the Deity, (by condescension,) does not diminish anything of the divinity of His divine7 perfection; having made you even God unto His glory!7

Oh goody now I get to post it.
What is exaltation?
Blessings of Exaltation
Our Heavenly Father is perfect. However, he is not jealous of his wisdom and perfection. He glories in the fact that it is possible for his children to become like him. He has said, This is my work and my gloryto bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man (Moses 1:39).
Those who receive exaltation in the celestial kingdom through faith in Jesus Christ will receive special blessings. The Lord has promised, All things are theirs (D&C 76:59). These are some of the blessings given to exalted people:
1. They will live eternally in the presence of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ (see D&C 76).
2. They will become gods.
3. They will have their righteous family members with them and will be able to have spirit children also. These spirit children will have the same relationship to them as we do to our Heavenly Father. They will be an eternal family.
4. They will receive a fulness of joy.
5. They will have everything that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ haveall power, glory, dominion, and knowledge. President Joseph Fielding Smith wrote: The Father has promised through the Son that all that he has shall be given to those who are obedient to his commandments. They shall increase in knowledge, wisdom, and power, going from grace to grace, until the fulness of the perfect day shall burst upon them (Doctrines of Salvation, 2:36).

sevenbak, are you pulling a romney on us? Giving us half-truths and 'milk before meat.' The public isn't going to fall for it any longer.
Now answer me this sevenbak, how do you EARN exaltation? Is it through the atonement of Christ? Or is it from works that you must do?

Or it could backfire and like all different faiths with different quirks, they would let it die. The public backlash could turn the media tide. Look what happened to Mitt when he was heckled by the anti. The way the audience responded was telling...

Why So Much Media Focus on Mitt Romney's Mormon Faith? Because it's a really weird "faith". If I were opposing him in an election I would just buy airtime and run the hilarious South Park episode which savages Mormonism and its charlatan founder, Smith. Then at the end say "By the way, Mitt Romney believes all this". That would be about all Hillary would need to torpedo him.
Romney has no chance of being President. Nor Giuliani. Nor Hunter or Tancredo. Nor Senator BrownEye. Looking pretty grim unless Chuck Norris is ready to give it a go.
