Bush and his team have made a calculated decision that the DNCmedia are not going to have a soundbite of him slamming Democrats. He thinks "wouldn't be prudent" because that soundbite would become the rallying cry for every democrat in the country for the next two years.

Sorry, but such political considerations should not enter into his response to a question that transcends partisan politics. His firing of Rumsfeld a day after the election results just whetted the appetite of the Dems who don't need a rallying cry. They have been attacking the President for six years.

Now they are salivating for him to slam his opponents, so they can use it against him. Also when he speaks, his words go out to the world, including Ahma nutjob, Lil' Kim, and OBL if he is still alive. He is POTUS not the head of the RNC - who by the way has anyone ever heard of - Michael Duncan?

Slam his opponents??? Bush is the CIC. He needs to respond forcefully to attacks on the troops and the mission in time of war. The House resolution gives aid and comfort to the enemy. Can you imagine HST responding like Bush did in his latest press conference?

he fails, as always to communicate

With the filter of the treasonous, poisonous drive-by media, his communications are crippled. I agree with your idea of a "fireside chat", and wish it could become a regular practice, BUT, what's to stop the ABCNBCCBS traitors from just refusing to allow him airtime?

There may be regulations or precedents or even legalities regarding the practice of giving the president a megaphone, but with the current anarchy within the congress and media, and the control of the justice system by the left, why would they hesitate to just arbitrarily refuse him airtime? What would be the penalty, and more importantly, who would enforce it?

The media is in full gloat, having defeated the republicans in November, and they have decided to choose the next president of the United States. Can you say President Obama?

State after state (New Mexico being one) has reverted from an electronic voting system back to the old paper ballot, the easier to manufacture democrat votes, my dear...and laws enacted to enforce voter ID are being overturned (again, in Albuquerque NM as an example, thanks, Bill Richardson and NM congress. The NM state legislature now has a bill pending to allow same day registration and voting).

I can't, for the life of me, understand just what "political capital" W would stand to lose if the administration tomorrow, began enforcing sedition and treason laws. Chances are, he won't get another conservative justice on the Supreme Court. Chances are, ANY program he tries to establish or change in the next months will go down in flames in the congress.

One wonders then, what would he have to lose, and more importantly, WHAT DOES THE NATION HAVE TO GAIN if a couple dozen "journalists", editors, and/or CIA employees were thrown in the clink?

George W. Bush is so invested in the noble gamble, and I DO believe it to be noble, of Iraq, that he is allowing himself to be hamstrung in getting his message out on the great economy and all the good things he HAS accomplished.

One just has to hope that wiser minds than mine are at work within the walls of the White House, and these points have been recognized and factored into the current course.

I'm sure these points have been brought out and discussed on this thread, and this forum, before. That being said, I just feel the need to say it all again.

Why is it I have the feeling that this nation is careening down a steep mountain pass in a vehicle that has lost it's brakes?

Yeah, that would really work well.

Fantasy Hollweird "President" answering the way the Talk Radio Conservatives" think he should.

President: "The Congress is behaving as out right traitors directly under minding the Country and the troops. They all ought to be taken out and shot."

NOW, 6 months later that SAME President is going to have to go hat in hand and ask that SAME Congress to appropriate money for the War.

So WHAT do you suppose the response to the Talk Radio Fantasy President is going to be from the primadonna geeks that run the Congress if he goes out and slimes them now?

It may feed egos to sit around here scream about how the President should be going out and talking all big and tough too bad for the President but he has to operate in the REAL world, not Talk Radio Fantasy Land.

You know what the problem is here? The Talk Radio Generation all worship caricature of Reagan. The REAL Reagan spent a whole lot of time kissing these Congressional clown's butts. Talk Radio Fantasy Land Reagan supposedly was over at the Capitol every other day slapping the snot out of the Congress and the "news" Media.

Too bad we have to live in the real world and not talk radio fantasy land.

Tell your son that you heard from another Army NCO that the correct answer is "Because doing the RIGHT thing...doesn't always involve doing the popular thing."

He should have showed his passion at his last press conference and not reading a canned speech at some manufactured event.

Yes, sounds to me that the President did make the point. He even used the word "elected" leaders.

These traitors were elected by somebody.

President Bush is not a wimp. He may not be your ideal of a great speaker but saying he's a wimp is wrong and disingenuous. President Bush is doing what he believes is right.

That's a lot more than I can say for the Democrats or the Republicans who voted in favor of the non-binding resolution. It's more than those who voted in favor of what we needed to do in Iraq and now want to change their minds because the left has influenced polls.

"I don't know any human who could handle so much incoming deadly serious pressure 24/7, from so many sources, any better, and I fear who will replace him. I'm so grateful that he's our president and stands in the breach for US.

God bless and protect President Bush."

Thanks for saying, STARWISE. Not a day passes that I don't think the same thing.

Not so fast, Kabar. What you're refering to was in 2006. What I am refering to has been constant, since the "disputed" Fla vote. Remember McCain? He had his followers and they never supported the Pres. The Pres was very, very loyal to the Repubs in Congress, and spent a lot of his own political capital going to bat for them in the 2002 elections. For which he was never compensated.

Once again, I'll say it:

Shameful!

Only took 350 posts to turn this into an immigration bash thread. Who cares about immigration if we lose the war? We lost on immigration so we should lose the war too.

You have to review the context of my response. It has to do with the loyalty of Reps in Congress defending the President on the war. Loyalty is a two-way street.

You make an interesting point Snugs.

I don't know if it's staged to be that way, for it would be unfortunate if that were the case. Maybe it is.

Then again, maybe Juan just didn't put a lot of prep into the Sunday show so he falls back on the Beltway MoM's (Memes of the Moment).

But I do notice, that even when Juan's doing the talking points, he sometimes has to refrain from rolling his eyes. So they must be as painful for him to say as it is for us to hear.
