Soldier's Response to the Coward Caucus in Congress
Comments from my son | February 17, 2007 | JemiansTerror

Posted on 02/17/2007 1:33:38 PM PST by Jemian

My son is currently serving in Iraq, at a post north of Baghdad. He is a gunner with an engineering unit; his main job is watch for bad guys and blast them. The following are comments he made to some friends last night. The episode he discusses was Saturday morning. I thought y'all might be interest in what he had to say about the situation over there. FWIW, his morale is great. You can see he is committed to the mission.

The friggin terrorists tried to hurt our friends today. The attacked some IPs not to far from us, and then when the armor near us responded to the IPs cries for help and came rushing over with some serious firepower, they ran like little girls. My unit saw no action, but we sure heard it. A round flew over us, and so some of the guys who were working with us who dont go out to much took cover. The rest of us just laughed. It was funny. We were behind a hill, and about a kilometer away, so we were pretty safe. A few IPs [Iraqi Police] got hurt, and so prayers go out to those wounded guys. They have to live in this country where thier families could be killed for thier involvement in the Iraqi Police, so I have alot of respect for them.

It really amazes me how the IPs and Iraqi Army persist even though our politicians doubt them back home. I've seen them take terrorists, and detain them. I've seen IA tanks hold the high ground. I dont know why we doubt these guys. They do more of the heavy stuff than we do. They really are stepping up, and though they pay the price (I saw them get hit, they took one KIA, and one more had his guts hanging out) they still fight on. These guys have some serious beliefs in what they can make their country into. I believe in them.

This whole thing going on back home is just not right. We should not run and abandon this country. Saddam needed to be punished. He had ridiculed the world, and had opressed his people. People say that we have brought carnage? We have not done nothing compared to Saddam. He was a killer and did it to his own people. I'm not sorry that we came here, and I'm sure not going to run out on these people. I'm no person to ever do that, and I'll stand by these people here.

One of the translators told me some about the former regime. His brother was killed by Saddam. Every time we talk he says more and more about how much better it is for Iraqis now. The kids smile and wave when they see us pass by. The people here are always nice to us as well. It might be because we carry automatic weapons, but so did Saddam and they sure didnt like him.

Bess my soul, there you are!! Well, now I can tell you in person! You stay safe, keep your head down, say your prayers, and remember we love ya! (Does that sound like something your Mom would say? ;)

Get one of those bad guys for me!

I think we are. I've been trying to follow this thread, but the mission got in the way. Carlie is not much of a political person, so it'll be hard, but I'll try to make her a freeper.

Nice tag line BTW.

JT, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you and your friends are doing. I pray for your safe return. Jemian, thank you for the sacrifice that you are making every day, as well.

We are! We are! What is the particular mission today? Can you tell me?

A few days ago a really bad guy bought the farm and his boss were seriously wounded in Balad. Were you in on that?

Ya' know, you might let some of your buddies read the replies on this thread. Because we feel the same about all of our troops. Y'all are keeping us safe and helping to preserve the nation. The good you are doing, and you are doing good, for Iraq is frankly secondary.

We love you and we're praying for all y'all.

Thank you for your prayers. Frankly, I don't think we're making any sacrifice. This is just something that is right at this time. At any rate, we would be separated from JT during this time. Hubby and I and little sister work outside the US.

Oh, did you know I posted that "inside the tank" pic of you on ATRW? Everyone says you're a hunk. I think you're just my sweet.... well, you know the phrase.

It is getting late where I am and I need to get to bed. I love you and pray for you daily.

Before I forget that matter you emailed me about, I will do it Monday morning. I've had lousy internet connections and have left a lot of things until that got straightened out.

God be with you and with your buddies.

I was not in the action on nailing the dude in Balad. Good on the guys who were though. I'm jealous. Who was it?

The mission today was convoy security, and a work project in the city. Thats all I'm going to say.

Everyone of those republicans (and the dems that voted to) need to be targeted for electoral defeat.

A great question to ask when these 17 are running for re-election is to have a OIF/OEF veteran, out of service, stand up and ask, "Sir, you didn't support the president to provide troops to help protect our guys in iraq as they battle to bring stability so they can leave. How can you stand today in front of this group and ask for our support? Have you no shame? (or something like that)."

And then inundate their offices with pictures of those that will die between this vote and their next election.

Still, it has to be a worry. All mothers worry about their children and having one in a war is a sacrifice if only for the added worry. I shall keep you all in my prayers.

In the Senate, the seven Republicans who voted to advance the measure were Norm Coleman of Minnesota, Susan Collins of Maine, Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, Gordon Smith (news, bio, voting record) of Oregon, Olympia Snowe of Maine, Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and John Warner of Virginia. All but Snowe and Specter could face the voters in 2008.

Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, sided with Republicans on the vote.

The congress that al-Qaida wanted and that the American people gave them is simply doing what it was put there to do.

Thank you for sharing this letter from your son. You must be so proud of him. I thank God for all of the fine young men who step up to defend our freedom. I will keep him in my prayers for a safe return.
I too am from Alabama and I am so proud of Jeff Sessions.

It is clear to me that we now have an Imperial Congress that is 100% committed to impose a theocracy on America, a Socialist Theocracy whereby the Elitests will rule for 1000 years. The problem is the Nazi Islamists will exterminate them in their wanton gluttony and crazed meglomania.
