Stanek noted that the incident followed by just days a situation in Lawrence, Mass., where Amber Abreu, 18, was charged with taking Cytotec illegally to abort her baby. The baby girl was between 23-25 weeks old, weighed one and a quarter pounds, and was aborted alive. Named Ashley, she died four days later at Tufts-New England Medical Center, and Abreu is facing the possible charge of homicide.Why is this mom facing homicide charges? The lateness of the abortion? The fact that is was a do-it-yourself abortion? I find this surprising given that it's Mass.

I can't think of a more horrific crime than what I'm reading here. This whole abortion issue and a woman's right to choose is such an blatant ignorance of the sanctity of life that I'm convinced that as more time goes on, one of 2 things will happen. We will become more and more insensitive and accept it as a necessary evil under the protection of law, or we will hopefully wake up from this horrible nightmare and come to our senses. I fear the former is true and I pray to God to have mercy on us.

Why is this mom facing homicide charges? If I had to guess, it is because the baby was completely born (aborted) alive. I know, I know - it is a double standard, because if you kill a baby before it is completely born, then it is justifiable homicide (i.e. legal abortion). We live in a crazed country.
