It's already coming up. Think of the parents with teenage sons who are sitting at the dinner table discussing what the recruiter said to their kids, today. How does a father an mother who love their son tell that child that risking their life for this country is a noble cause, instead of looking at what the Left and the media have done to undermine our nation's cause in order to gain political power. Chances are very high that in a few months we will have surrendered Iraq to terrorist forces, and squandered the lives of thousands of American heroes, all so the Democrats can ensure their own political power.

So...tell your son to enlist? Tell your son to go to OTS/OCS, or the academy? One thing's for sure, it's not going to be as easy for a loving parent to support such a decision by their child as it was a few years ago.

An old book I have called "VOICES OF 1776" is mainly letters and news accounts or diaries from the Revolutionary War. In 1780 their was a mutiny because of the poor conditions (no pay, lack of gear, food, etc.). It just happened that right after the mutiny there was to be a hanging of 11 soldiers for unrelated crimes (theft, etc.) Three got on-the-spot pardons. After a gory description of the hangings a doctor that was present continues:

"The remaining criminal...had been guilty of forging...discharges by which he and more than a hundred soldiers had left the army. he appeared to be penitent, and behaved with uncommon fortitude and resolution. He addressed the soldier, desired them to be faithful to their country and obedient to their officers, and advised the officers to be punctual in all their engagements to the soldiers and give them no cause to desert. He examined the halter and told the hangman the knot was not made right and that the rope was not strong enough, as he was a heavy man.

Having adjusted the the knot and fixed it around his own neck, he was swung off instantly. the rope broke and he fell to the ground, by which he was very much bruised. he calmly reascended the ladder and said. I told you the rope was not strong enough! Do get a stronger one!" Another being procured, he was launched into eternity.

It would appear it doesn't matter what progress is happening in Iraq they are hellbent on giving America a defeat by any means necessary.
