I admired how calmly that driver climbed out of the burning car, rather James Bond-like.

NASCAR wrecked half of those cars by waiting to throw the yellow. Everyone from third on back was still hammer down because they were fighting for a finish. By the time they "froze the field", 10+ cars were wrecked

My thoughts exactly. Totally unnecessary and NASCAR is lucky not one driver was seriously injured in that debacle.

Yeah, Mark, etc., got screwed, but from a business perspective, NASCAR gets what they wanted - domination of the sports highlight reals for the next few days, plus plenty of pics in the newspapers.

NASCAR wants these big crashes - make no mistake about it, they have rehearsed various scenarios time and again, and probably even talked about what they would do in the likely event of a crash on the last half of the last lap.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Seemed more concerned about getting the Coke bottle in his hand!

Biffle went from 4th to 25th because of that ruling.

Screw NASCAR. How freaking ridiculous.

Sadly, I agree. And one day, somebody will get seriously hurt. You would think they would have learned from Earnhardt's death.

YOu definately keep racing until you see the yellow come out -- but NASCAR seems to pick and choose when they decide to throw the Yellow --- Twice at talledega now they have tossed the yellow in when the leaders were in the middle of 3 and 4 -- just coincdentally while Hendrick cars were momentarily in the lead.

Darn good thing that car turned wheels down at the end so he could get out.

Then why throw ith yellow at all, wait a few beats and then freeze the field? That seems a bit capricious. It's confusing to me. Ah, fergit it... :)

Wanting crashes is one thing, but allowing the final results to be totally skewed by a last stretch crash smacks of pro wrestling.

Greg Biffle ran a great race, didn't do anything stupid, and he goes from 4th to 25th because Kyle Busch is an absolute moron who can't stay on the course. Throw the yellow immediately, as has should have been done, and many top teams and sponsors are smiling instead of pissed.

its obvious they consciously held the yellow so as not to invalidate the finish. they need to officially change the rule.

That was my first impression, but my second was to wonder what we would be thinking if they had thrown the yellow with only a 100 yards to the finish?

What if it was anyone else but Martin?

I dunno........Maybe it was a good call.

LOL! Get used to it. It's one of their judgment calls and I'm sure it won't be the last confusing thing to happen this year.

Ah, fergit it... :)

That's the best thing to do. :-)

Kennseth caused it and got out of it. He has done that before.

Matt the Brat strikes again. He'll get his some race soon.
