Please don't compare Guiliani to Hitler. There is absolutely no comparison. Guiliani is a tough straight talking guy from NYC. Conservative in some ways and Liberal on others. He doesn't tap dance around the issues, and tells you who he is and what he stands for. Strong on Law & Order, and if you'd ever lived in NYC you'd know why he supports some forms of gun control. Would you want the nut case who spends his days in the subway, talking to himself and screaming at people who are passing by carrying a gun? I don't think so. Not everyone has the right to carry a gun. There has to be some limits. I am a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment, and a member of the NRA, but there have to be some limits. I think, we're smart enough to know when to fight against bad limits. Nothing is black & white in this life anymore, it's not that simplistic. I am a conservative, a former New Yorker, and I'd vote for Rudy in a heartbeat. I trust him.

One thing about Rudy, no matter how you feel about his position on social issues, he's got guts.

Anyon who is such a wuss that they're afraid of scary looking guns does not have "guts".

This isn't DUmmie.org You know damn well what I meant.

Who pissed in your Cheerios this morning?

It's interesting to observe that those who have poor communication skills and recognize that failure, resort to making statements related to another FReeper as a supportor of DemocraticUnderground.

As for you insinuation that I am sympathetic to those members of DU, you may want to see my FR homepage and the 15,000+ posts here supporting President Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, the American military, the American Flag, The Pledge of Allegiance, The United States Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the NRA.

Have a nice day.

But as I said, gun control has largely disappeared from the federal agenda. The dems won't bring it up

They already have! Do a FR search for keyword "banglist".

So you are blaming ME because no one more conservative than Guliani is able to even make it to the consciousness of the People?

I'm responding to something you wrote. I asked if the party sucks this much. You responded that it didn't, but that "those who want to implement a more conservative policy clearly DO since they can't get anyone to follow them."

That would seem to suggest that you believe conservatives suck. And that only Rudy, the closest any serious GOP presidential candidate has come to being a true liberal purist, is capable of reaching voters.

It sounds as much like an indictment of conservatism itself as it is an indictment of the candidates. And it sounds like you believe the prescription is to be more like the liberal left.

I don't know if that's what you believe or not. But that's what it sounded like, based on the words in the post that I was responding to.

Jerky insults of those who can actually see what is happening does not get Hunter past the 1% mark.

Oh, coming from Mr. Civil, that's worth a huge laugh.

He is getting NO traction at all

And you tell me I can't see what's happening? The laughs just keep on coming.

which is regrettable to me

Yeah, so regrettable that you take every opportunity to badmouth his candidacy and supporters. You positively reek of sincerity.

Hunter will drop out within the next six months and endorse Rudy.

We all have to have our fantasies, I guess.

What will you say then?

In six months I'll be looking for your apology. Not that I expect to find it.

By the way, Romney absolutely can give him a run for his money. I don't know if Newt can or can't, but I know his voice in this race is desperately needed.

It's way too early to concede anything to anybody, and it's way too early to write anybody off.

Except Brownback. You can go ahead and write the obituary for his candidacy.

So, does this establish then that at least 31% of Republicans are gutless morons?

Also, a running mate with strong social conservative credentials might keep most social conservatives from abandoning the ticket.

You say "Hi" and then imply I am one of "those with poor communications skills".

Maybe my other skills are not so poor as to recognize condescension when I see it?

It is also obvious that you are not a DUmmie, so no such defense by you is necessary. My DUmmie comment was in regards to the other choices you posted, not Cobra64 the Freeper.

I don't support Rudy or McCain but I am open to any of the other choices. Is it NOT clear to you that I'm NOT considering any RAT? If so, why the 1GB pics of RATS on your response?

New York State and City had strict gun control laws long before Giuliani was mayor. I don't any of the laws were enacted under Giuliani. He just enforced them.

I think if he gets the nod he will seek out a very strong social conservative to be on his ticket. Brownback would be a good choice, if and when elected his senate seat would be a safe bet for a republican to hold.

"That would seem to suggest that you believe conservatives suck." Conservatives are woefully lacking in communicating what they are about. And they are unwilling to admit what happened in NOV which means they cannot win.

Do you seriously believe Conservativism is healthy when it leading stars of tomorrow where annihilated last Nov.?

You also act as if I APPROVE of the fact that no conservative is capable of gaining any momentum. Any fair minded reader of my posts would see that this is false. You cannot point to ANY negative criticism of any conservative politician except Tancredo and Ron Paul that I have made.

My "prescription" is to nominate a candidate with at least SOME chance of winning the election. I have REPEATEDLY said I would vote for whomever the GOP runs against Hillary even if if is a Far Rightist who has no chance. IN ADDITION, I have not even said I would vote for Giuliani in the primary.

Can the Burn the Bridgers at least be a little fair in what their opponents are saying?

You mentioned Keyes because you have a perverted personal agenda against him for God only knows what reason.

Events will bear out what I have said even if you won't admit it.

Why don't you find ONE negative remark I have made about Hunter's ideology or the man personally. Or you can just apologize now for LYING about my concerns. NONE of those concerns are that Hunter is too conservative for me merely too conservative to win the votes of some of the 60+% of the voters who are NOT conservative.

Just because Hunter's followers here are unaware or pretend to be that he cannot win does not mean I believe HE believes he can. However, running is a good way to open the possibility for the VP spot on a Giuliani ticket which is the best the social conservatives could hope for given the current electorate.
