Public school lawyers say parents have no say if public schools teach homosexuality

Lawyers representing a Massachusetts school district named as a defendant in a parent's civil rights complaint have said teachers at Estabrook Elementary School have a "legitimate state interest" in teaching the homosexual lifestyle, and parents have no input into those decisions....
...."The state must fight 'discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation' in ways that 'do not perpetuate stereotypes,'" the lawyers for the school district argued. They also explained to the judge that, in their opinion, parents have no right to control what ideas the school presents to elementary schoolchildren, and if parents disagree with that dictate, they can take their children elsewhere.
"Once I have elected to send my child to public school, my fundamental right does not allow me to direct what my child is exposed to in the public school," said the school's lawyer....

What I don't understand is WHY parents don't DEMAND THIS.

I have two words, if you are concerned, HOME SCHOOLING.
To: television is just wrong
LOL
I love you all! There is nothing more encouraging than a fervent homeschool parent.
And I also like your screen name, tv is wrong. ;o) That's the very truth too. There is hardly anything worth watching anymore.

Just wait, Home schooling will be made illegal in a few years. Watch and see..

And I was so tired, i didn't notice that the "be" wasn't there. I too am a product of the public schools, but at least my kids aren't. :)Good for you, and your children. If I had children I'd do everything I could to keep them out of public schools too.

This is modern government, it's their money, it's their decision what to teach your kids, it's their decision how you can use your property.
I'm glad I'll be dead in another 50 years or so.

I'd also prefer to have her THINK rather than be indoctrinated ... for example a Greenpeace militant or an emotionally disturbed person that sees no purpose in being RESPONSIBLE for actions. I constantly see IRRESPONSIBILITY being pushed
EXACTLY!!..... I feel the same.... I am going to make it work this summer with my daughter. I hope once she sees I mean to teach her & she can't fool around...It will be ok. I also wonder if the older school she is in has anything to do with her breathing problems. We have had every vent cleaned etc here at home & the furnace cleaned.... Last year in her other school she was so much better. I can't take being scared she will have an asthma attack to & from school on the bus anymore. I plan to let this year finish out & start the teaching this summer.

Check
this out
It's a plan for every homeschool family to encourage at least one other to begin homeschooling.
The idea is to add another million homeschool families to our current high ranks.
There is power in numbers.
Approach this positively with a winning attitude. That alone makes it difficult for anyone having evil intent.

This wouldn't be a problem if we could take our money elsewhere, too.

"two words......
home school"
Yep and when enough people do that then they will make it illegal to home school your children. Don't think so just read the news. They are already going after it.

They were trying that when there were only a handful of people homeschooling. The NEA perceives homeschooling as a threat even if the numbers of people participating in it are low.
And it was primarily because there were so very many homeschoolers jamming the switchbards when H.R.6 came up that we maintained our right to homeschool a few years ago.
Numbers matter and they do help. Obviously, the more people choosing to homeschool the greater the NEA's concern gets, but at the same time remember this: The greater our numbers, the more powerful we get in terms of acting to secure freedom under the Constitution.
Giving up is not an option. Our kids are worth full effort in spreading the word and doing our part.

Just set up a schedule. Have them do stuff BEFORE they can go out to play.
I actually like it. It builds a closer bond. You also see how far along they are. You're not longer dependent on a "teacher". YOU see their learning style and their pace. If we had another child, HANDS DOWN we'd home school.
These years go FAST. Take advantage of them. It's worth the time from an academic standpoint and relationship standpoint.
As for a problematic environment in school there's always agencies you can call and have them test the air quality ... I would do this anonymously ... and see if the problem is at school.

Have a link for that thread? I'd like to read about that. I've seen where my daughter can go at a faster rate and is an easy learner. We've kept her in her chronological grade but later ... as she matures ... I wouldn't mind if she'd skip s grade or two.

Wow, things sure have changed here in the USA! Parents no longer have a say in how their children are educated in schools their tax dollars support? What arrogance, what gall, the beast has grown quite bold.

Thanks for the advice. I just talked to the head class mom and she and I are going into school next week to ask about a few things. One of them being the fact our children are sick so much and since the school is old if theres a problem there. I would rather be honest and tell them if they don't have an evaluation on the building then we will make the calls needed to make them get one. I am checking out all kinds of links now...~P~

Yes numbers do make a difference, sometimes. It forces the Liberals to go to the courts which are full of like thinking clown judges that will legislate from the bench.

I'm not sure which one is the right one but look up OSHEA or EPA and there may be links to pursue further. I forget which is the right one. It is best to approach the school in a group ... so your children don't suffer the fallout ... . If there are others that are concerned ... so much the better.
