Public school lawyers say parents have no say if public schools teach homosexuality
World Net Daily ^ | Feb. 14, 2007

Lawyers representing a Massachusetts school district named as a defendant in a parent's civil rights complaint have said teachers at Estabrook Elementary School have a "legitimate state interest" in teaching the homosexual lifestyle, and parents have no input into those decisions....

...."The state must fight 'discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation' in ways that 'do not perpetuate stereotypes,'" the lawyers for the school district argued. They also explained to the judge that, in their opinion, parents have no right to control what ideas the school presents to elementary schoolchildren, and if parents disagree with that dictate, they can take their children elsewhere.

"Once I have elected to send my child to public school, my fundamental right does not allow me to direct what my child is exposed to in the public school," said the school's lawyer....

Even more to the point, public school is not an elected choice, it's compulsory, unless the child attends another school approved by the state.

I agree totally... and sorry to be slightly off-topic... but it also irritates me that they call those of us who don't agree with homosexuality "homophobic".

A phobia is to be scared of something.... I am NOT a homophobic, I am in no way scared of them (ask the Sgt. above me when I was in the Air Force when he put his arm around me and said, "so, I hear you're gay" (dunno where he got that misinformation from.... and ask about the tooth he lost over it...

I just don't like them....

I don't get it, they want teach our children how to be homosexuals and there's nothing we can do about it?

It's called socialism - a system where collective "needs" supercede an individual's rights. It encourages tyrannical misuse of power over individuals because they mean nothing to the state. Two choices, get used to it or fight it.

If he has a fundamental right, then it would allow him to direct what his child is exposed to. If he does not have a fundamental right...then who is actually the parent here??

He has a fundamental right to educate his kid the way he chooses. He does not, however, have a fundamental right to have the government teach his kid the way he chooses. When it comes to government schools, what gets taught is decided democratically. Although the parent can vote and put in his 2 cents regarding particular curriculum decisions, he doesn't have a Constitutional right to have those decisions go *his* way.

"Elect"???. "Elect"? For many, if they don't "elect" to use the government school, police will soon be at the door.

Government school taxes are definitely not a choice that citizens can "elect" to pay or not.

OK...so...What about parents who "elect" to homeschool or privately school? What they are really doing is paying RANSOM.

What the government is doing is FORCING private school and homeschool parents to pay a freedom of conscience ( or freedom of religion) tax to RANSOM their children from the clutches of the government school.

Private school and homeschool parents are paying RANSOM just to get their kids out of the government clutches.

And,,,you make a good point. Even private and home schools need approval by the government school gestapo.

However there recently was a problem with a Rev and sex abuse from years ago so I don't know if thats a good idea. ~P~

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

There is plenty of sex abuse going on in the government schools.

Teachers abuse. School workers abuse. Students abuse. And,,,teaching homosexuality is child abuse.

I don't bash gays and would not tell my child to bully any child with same sex parents. Or any child. I do have a problem with the school deciding they are going to tell my child about gays , gay diverse families or anything of a sexual nature. I think its up to the parents to decide what & when to tell their children about these things. Above all I don't want a group such as Garden State Equality Group or any other gay group promoting their movies or any of their gay agenda on my child. It is getting to the point that I am starting to feel that they shouldn't be allowed to adopt if their adoptions are going to bring their lifestyles into the school. Thats how much I am starting to resent these gays. I never felt like that before but this is just getting to be too much. You want to be gay, have children fine, keep it to yourself & family. In my house I refuse to let my child think at her young age its ok to be gay. ~P~

You have posted to me several times with very good reasons to homeschool. I have a child with asthma and I have had many issues with that school. She is sick often and they know why however it doesn't seem to matter to them. I plan to homeschool her all summer. She doesn't seem to think I am serious about teaching her but I am going to do my best. If she will show improvement I won't be sending to 2nd grade next year. I am tired of the stress and worries about her all day. She hasn't been allowed to go to the nurse at times and has come home with fevers. She is not allowed to carry her inhaler so I have to worry if she will have an attack to and from school on the bus. Plus she gets sick whenever anyone sends their sick child to school so all in all....Your post & the many other posters who homeschool have made me think its a good idea to try it this summer. Thank you to all who have posted info to me. ~~Pandora~~

Well, yes he does if those sexual teachings violate his fundamental right to freedom of religion, several other rights i can think of.

My child would be home the very next day. Whatever I cannot correctly teach him or her, I would find a neighbor who can. I still have some control over what happens within my household.

I guess I am more afraid I won't be a good teacher.."

YOU will be a very good teacher because YOU CARE about the education your child gets.

If "Teachers" are so good- why aren't they standing up against this type of indoctrination????

It matters who you vote onto a school board, folks. I was lucky when I was a kid- My parents knew EVERY person on the local school board. There is something to say for living in a very small town.

"I don't get it, they want teach our children how to be homosexuals and there's nothing we can do about it?"

Every independent school district has elected school board members. Find out who they are and tell them to stop the nonsense or they will be "unelected".
School boards can stop this if they are inclined to.

An ACLU lawyer, however, told the judge that "it is a tremendous bonus" for children to be given information of which their parents wouldn't approve, and that teaching children homosexuality when their parents' Biblical beliefs do not support that has nothing to do with a violation of religious freedom, according to the MassResistance.org reports.

But why is it necessary?

Thanks....One of the problems where I live is that it is a large town with many schools. The staff in the lower grades change often. I was shocked when my oldest daughter was in high school and had some of the very same teachers I had when I went there. They seemed old then to me. I remember the English teacher who kept a bottle of vodka in his desk and sure enough she had him too. Everyone knew he was drunk and as long as you didn't disrupt the class while he napped you passed. I really was shocked he was still there and I had her moved to another class.
