H.R. 1022 has been introduced in committee.
From The High Road, where there's lots of discussion and political fingerpointing. Examples:
"Well, all you folks who voted for anyone but a republican now know what the next 2-10 years are going to be like. Maybe longer."
Which was countered by:
"Plus, even if it does pass, all you good Republicans have nothing to worry about because your President will veto it, right? Remember, you guys all said Bush was just playing politics when he said he would sign a new AWB. You guys don't think you are wrong now, do you? Do you?"
Yep. Bush said in the 2004 election that he would sign the AWB renewal if it came across his desk. At the time, he was confident of a Republican Congress keeping that from happening. What could possiblie go wrong? The 2006 elections went wrong, Democrats now control both houses of Congress, and Bush's words are coming back to haunt gunowners.
Still, Bush and a Republican Congress were very good for gunowners. The AWB was allowed to expire in 2004, and the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms act protects gun companies from frivolous lawsuits that were threatening to destroy them.
This renewal probably won't go through, but another one might after the next election. This is exactly why I'm only buying semi-autos between now and the end of 2008. Just in case. If anything is banned it will be semi-automatics. And if they aren't banned outright they will be regulated - as in the 1994 AWB - with regards to magazine capacities of more than 10 rounds and "evil" features like collapsible/folding stocks and flash hiders.
We can only hope that the 'Rats keep this alive through the election season...
What do these pro-gun-control politicians have to fear from armed citizens? If they aren't doing anything wrong, what do they have to worry about?
I've made it clear elsewehere and I'm making it clear here.
This country is regulated by the Constitution of the United States, as it is written.
Any attempt to deny me my inalianable rights without Constitutional Amendment through due process will be resisted by force.
I don't blame Liberals for trying to re-write the Constitution, I blame those who claim their rights are being infringed and who do nothing to stop it.
There will always be tyrants, but there aren't always enough freedom loving citizens to resist and defeat the tyrants.
It makes no difference to me though.
Alone, or united with freedom loving Patriots, I have given away all I intend to.
Live free or die.
Buy all the high capacity mags you can get your hands on, and I mean now!! You may also want to look at buying some weapons for investment. Buy some AR-15 type rifles as an investment for around $900 and put them away without shooting them. Make sure they have all of the "assault weapon" characteristics. Wait until 5 or so years after the "Assault Weapons" Ban goes into place and start selling those rifles for $1,700+. I saw some of them going for $2,500 4 years after the 1994 gun ban.
What I have always found amusing is that the gun ban compliant weapons were functionally no different than the pre-ban weapons, but the term "pre-ban" would drive the price up like crazy, and people will pay it!
PS: Be sure to keep a pre-ban rifle for yourself as they tend to give you some status among the folks out on the range.
" If they aren't doing anything wrong, what do they have to worry about?"
I think you just answered your own question : )
Hey don't get uppity now.
You should well know that they don't have to practice what they preach
That as good subjects we have no right to have our government adhere to the laws it passes on us.
NOT.
This is horrible legislation and I hope it does not pass but I did make some serious spending money on Glock magazines after the last one.
The problem with these freaks is that they could do anything like pass a law making possesion and transfer of any number of items illegal.
Once they whip themselves into a frenzy they could pass any number of insane unconstitutional laws.
Time to pick up that Garand I've been wanting. I got rid of my AK's thinking I didn't really need them. Like grandpa missing out on IBM stock, we all do stupid things.

The whole concept of Freedom just scares the crap out of them, I reckon. I'm not going to waste time
analyzing motives, I'm just going to say, "out of my cold, dead hands"! If anyone thinks I'm bluffing, bring
it on!
The debate is circular, and endless, and I'm done with debate!
Excellent.
I stand with you.
The Constitution of the United States supercedes any and all attempts to legislate it out of existence without due process, and I hereby re-affirm my intention to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States with my life as sacrifice if need be.
No more talk, no more unconstitutional laws, if you want my rights, come and try to take them.
Eh, I'm from California, so it irritates me immensely but doesn't really affect me.
However, it might turn out to be a boon. We all know the whupping the rats got after the '94 ban, maybe that'll repeat itself.
That said, I think the rat congresscritters from semi-gun friendly states won't jump on board this time. Even so, folks like Feinswine and Boxer (my local senators) can vote as they please with no fear of political repercussion.
awww F***, not again..........
They do this every year.
Gee, what a surprise.
You actually believe that we are running a Republic here, don't you?
I will not comply. Enough is enough.
