Congressman David Dreier Announces Support for Mayor Giuliani
Join Rudy 2008 ^ | Feb 13th, 2007 | Press Release

Posted on 02/13/2007 4:42:15 PM PST by PhiKapMom

New York, Feb 13 -

In a sign of continuing momentum, the Rudy Giuliani Presidential Exploratory Committee today announced Congressman David Dreier, Chairman of the California Republican Congressional Delegation and House Rules Committee Ranking Republican, has announced his support for Mayor Rudy Giuliani to be the next President of the United States. Dreier’s endorsement follows the rousing reception Mayor Giuliani received at the California State Republican Convention and his successful swing through the state. Dreier will help lead Mayor Giuliani’s exploratory committee efforts in California.

Congressman Dreier said, “America needs the proven leadership of Rudy Giuliani to tackle the difficult challenges our country is facing. Not only does Mayor Giuliani have a record of results, he has a positive, optimistic vision that can unite our Party and our country for the greater good.

“I am proud to be supporting Mayor Rudy Giuliani for President and am looking forward to helping the exploratory committee’s efforts in any way I can,” concluded Dreier.

Mayor Rudy Giuliani welcomed the support from Congressmen Dreier. “I’m excited to have a Republican leader like Congressman Dreier on our team.” This endorsement comes on the heels of Congressman Pete Sessions and former Congresswoman Susan Molinari joining Team Rudy, as well as the previously announced support of California Congressman Devin Nunes and Congresswoman Mary Bono. More California endorsements will be announced later in the week.

No, I didn't. Read the post.

You are a weasel. Once again, PBA was not an issue while Reagan was president. A simple Google search proves just that.

I consider myself a part time Rudy basher. I like the man OK, he gave a good speech at the 04 convention, I just can't tolerate his positions on 3 or 4 things. But I try mostly to direct my attacks at him and his record, not his fans. I know some of you, and I like most of you.

I find myself, as a Hunter supporter, siding with many people I have battled with over Bush (me defending). But hopefully, I've been civil enough in most cases (certainly not all) that we can work together --bushbots and anti-bushies-- to get Duncan some traction.

The same goes here. If we can somehow propel our guy into the limelight, it will not pay off to have a bunch of Rudy fans so pissed they choose Romeny or McCain instead.

Come on, man. PBA was court-supported when Giuliani was mayor of NYC, subject to the heavy political considerations such office entailed.

The procedure has been outlawed. Look forward, not back.

Rudy wrote partial-birth abortion legislation? When did this happen? Immediately after he ruled to legalize abortion when he was a SCOTUS Justice?

Same goes for my guy Hunter. I think he is wrong on the issue of trade and I freely admit it. I also understand that he has a tough road to hoe. He is not without blemish and all that is fair game. If I said he was, I would expect a truth squal to point that out. Presumably that is one of the things we do here at FR.

As I told A51, please, come to the Hunter threads. Challenge his weaknesses. The Dems will if he wins. We need to vet ALL OF THEM. This is what the year before the primaries is all about.

But if you are caught peddling something false, recant. That didnt' happen with the bogus claims being peddled by AmeriBrit. Nopardons still claims that AmeriBrit was banned for telling the truth about Hunter even though Calcowgirl shot down the claim.

Rudy wrote partial-birth abortion legislation?

He opposed a ban of such. Nice try.

He most likely is gay.

So what? He voted in favor of the Defense of Marriage Act.

While I'm not here to defended what Mark Foley did to lose his job, but Mark Foley voted against the gay marriage issue too. Alot of Republican and Conservatives who are openly gay believe marriage should be between a man and a woman. In fact, Al Rantel (whether you like the Los Angeles radio host or not) openly supported the measure to protect the sanctity of marriage between man and woman, and he's openly admitted he's gay.

Leave the labelling and stereotyping to the left-winged dingbats who have nothing better to do.

Yes it is. But my hope is that we avoid the total flameouts from 2000. The battles will be pitched, we all expect that, we should all cherish the truth, but at the end of the day, somehow, conservatives must pull in the same direction. Letting it get too personal, especially a year out from the primaries, is counter productive.

You don't take the hill by conceding the hill to the enemy. Clinton vetoed two PBA bans. Bush signed one.

I will vote for the GOP nominee, regardless of who it is. If it's McCain, I'll take smelling salts with me.

That is done by truthful posting. And adherence to core conservative values. Heck, PBA gets substantial support from Democrats. It should be a point of complete agreement on our side.

We wound up "taking the hill". Having a Republican in the White House helped out a lot, there.

You cannot post those images enough to show what is at stake here. The same folks who decry terrorists beheading captives apparently don't want to acknowledge that innocent children are beheaded by that procedure.

You ain't going to get an argument from me on abortion. Abortions are horrible, yes, and hopefully Rudy will come to his senses on the issue. But please tell me how a President can eliminate them altogether. He can't. Unless King George himself rises from the dead and seizes power again.

It probably has close to complete agreement. But somehow it does not translate into not supporting a guy becasue of it. It is our task to present the alternative so they can jump from the Rudy ship...as it goes down.
