I feel like a Black that is trying to escape the plantation because I won't vote for a liberal Republican.

Just remember, at least you will always have your blonde hair. It just may need some more barrettes in it from now on. For best effect, make sure you is clean and articulate too.

What makes you think you can just pop a vanity up there? What do you think you own the site?

Actually, I think it's pretty good but it could much better have been a tail of two party Leaderships.

I believe the party faithful still believe what they have believed for the past 30 years.

Well, we shall see what the primaries offer and how they go. Any candidatre, of any stripe, name, affiliation, etc. that gets it wrong on ANY of these issues, will not get my vote in any case:

1) Abortion
2) 2nd Amednment
3) Illegal Immigration
4) Assault on Marriage/Homosexual "rights"
5) National Defense

Anyone supporting abortion, whop infringes on peaceful, legal citizen's gun rights, who does not come down hard against illegal immigrantion, who supports or advocates homosexual unions as anything like marriage, or who does not stand strong for our national defense, is not worthy of my vote. To support any such candidate who misses it on any of these issues would amount to a betrayal of my own sacred duty as a free American and something I believe I would stand accountable before God for.

That's just my own view and how I go about beginning to determine which candidate might get my vote.

That big bad 3rd party will rise like a Phoenix only to elect Queen Hillary.

Did you READ the post? The Stupid Party is to blame 100% if this happens. Not conservatives who refuse to compromise principle.

Suck it up, ladies and gentlemen, because you are going to be sorely abused for your convictions when election 2008 rolls around and the mob calls you insane, stupid, vain, naive, enabling and anti-American for not supporting the next guy in line.

"There seems to be a pro-Rudy spam piece posted per minute."

No doubt, and don't try and espouse conservative beliefs on those threads either.

As far as I know, the GOP platform has not undergone a re-write and the first of the candidate debates have yet to commence. Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway) primary number one won't be held until February 2008.

The fixers may be saying the fix is irrevocably in--but the fat lady hasn't sung yet. In fact, she hasn't even won the DNC primary yet, come to think of it....

No, support Newt. He would make a fine President.

BOOKMARK for future use to help explain the difference today between conservatism and the party that use to represent it.

Good points. Are any already proclaimed candidates who fit your standards? If so, who are they. What would happen if we all found THE ONE that Free Republic could agree to support across the nation. Is this even a viable idea? I'm 62. I work full time and take care of my 95 year old dad. I can't run for an office. I have barely enough energy or time to support those conservatives who do run. We must do something. What do you think we can do?

As the Dems move further leftward, the GOP rushes in to fill the space. In so doing, the GOP creates a void to their right.

As long as the country-club big-business core control the GOP, the party will continue to move leftward, and they will call it being "centrist" or "moderate".

The conservatives have a choice: (1) Take control of the RNC, or (2) just continue to pull the R and get more of the same "centrism" and "moderatism", or (3) find a new home. But don't expect the country-club big-business core to turn conservative all of the sudden. It ain't gonna happen.

If Rudy Guiliani is left standing as the only one to prevent a Hillary presidency, he gets my vote.

NO third party for me. It's the GOP or Hillary and her sorry party.

I'll go for CIC Guiliani and take the chance that he will appoint strict constructionists to the federal benches.

Jim, you sum up the current situation very well. What suggestions would you have to correct it?

Get behind Duncan Hunter and support him at every chance to help him win the GOP nomination.

The other is or is quickly becoming

I don't quite share this level of pessimism, but that is exactly the reason McCain and Rudy must be defeated in the primaries. And I think they will be.

On the other hand, no, President Bush hasn't been perfect. But either of those two would be far worse.

... To say nothing of Hillary...
