Theodore Olson, the stalwart conservative lawyer and former solicitor general for the Bush administration, told the Spectator he will be supporting Rudy Giuliani's presidential bid.
"I admire his character, his capacity for leadership, his instincts, and his principles," Olson said over the phone this afternoon. He said he will help Giuliani raise money as well as offer advice on legal issues and domestic policy matters that involve constitutional questions.

Is Ted Olsen running?
For atty general or some other cabinet position. I am sure RG cut some kind of deal....
The Iowa Caucuses will be held in mid-January. New Hampshire might well be in January, too. By law, it's supposed to be a week before any similary primary, and other states are making efforts to move their primaries to February.
Ideas can never die.
"How do you fight an idea? With another idea." --close enough line from Ben-Hur
Surely you know that 90+% of the GOP is RINO? Only those capable of getting elected in Idaho, Utah and South Carolina are "true" Republicans.
A couple days back, Jim Robinson posted a vanity thread titled No, Republicans are NOT okay with ripping human babies limb from limb!. Is he also one of those "'holier-than-thou' posters" whose "excrement" is "destroying FR"? Sounds like it.
I think the Rudy campaign may very well destroy the GOP because the Reagan Democrats (including this one) may be forced to leave . . . for the very same reason we came in the first place. I hope it doesn't also destroy FreeRepublic.
There are advantages to that. lol
Since we have been repeatedly told by the Rudyphobes that he cannot get the votes of Rednecks and Southerners you obviously are just a liberal, babykilling, gungrabbing, marriagehating, fagloving phony. And you thought you could fool us.
Now on to your god Rudy, Rudy is,
(1)Pro-Gay.
(2)Pro-Abortion.
(3)Anti-2nd amendment.
(4)A global warming nut.
(5)A wife cheater 3 times over.
The fact that anybody who calls themselves a Republican, supports liberals like Rudy(not even close to being a moderate), speaks volumes. You are welcome to prove me wrong on any of my statements (1 thu 5), good luck on that.
"How many abortions has Rudy Giuliani performed?" Well you know his baby killing is sometimes interrupted by the gungrabbing and fagloving.
If you want to vote third party, be my guest. Good luck to your candidate in the elecion.
"And you wonder why we say the Giuliani supporters here are loathesome goons?" Sayeth a member of the Goon squad.
"Get it thru your head, millions more conservatives would sit on the sidelines for a guiliani nominee than for a Hunter."
Please don't speak for millions of conservatives who wouldn't vote if Giuliani is the nominee.
First of all, if he gets the nomination, that means millions of conservatives have already voted for him.
There are only a small minority that are narrow minded enough to stay at home instead of vote for Rudy.
Not everyone puts personal agenda ahead of the survival of our country like you and liberals do.
John Edwards' neighbor was on Glenn Beck last night, and he had a picture of himself standing at the end of his driveway next to a "Rudy In '08" hand painted sign. The guy is a turnip farmer, even laughed he had a turnip truck.
Speaking of endorsements........ Didn't Pat Robertson give his endorsement to Giuliani sometime back on ABC's This Week?..... do you remember that or not?
ROTFLOL! I would have loved to have seen that!
Off-topic, but if I were a farmer, I'd grow a crop that people actually eat.
Ted Olson is many things, but what I am reading here on this thread bears little resemblence to him at all. This is very simple, people. There was no deal cut. Ted was Sollicitor General, founder of the Federalist Society, argued Bush v. Gore, is probably one of the most well-known and respected lawyers in America and believe me, he is not sniffing around for the AG spot.
Ted has known Rudy for some 30 years. Ted is extremely loyal to his friends. This is a friendship that has withstood the test of time and transcends any political disagreement they may have. Ted is not a rigid movement social conservative -- that is not to say that he is not pro-life, etc. He is. But this move makes perfect sense to those of us who know him -- he is a rare, rare person in the political world who actually puts friendship and personal loyalty above politics. He genuinely thinks the world of Rudy and sees qualities that he truly believes would make him a fine President.
There is no deal cut here for AG or anything else. This is, in some ways quite refreshingly, about friendship.
I may not agree with his choice, but I understand it.
"post#177 I mean it - I think she is stronger on terrorism" so how is the recovery from that lobotomy going?
LOL!
