Carnahan wasn't sick, was he? I thought he died in a plane crash.

Carnahan wasn't sick, was he? I thought he died in a plane crash. He did. His name was still on the 2000 ballot. And he won (well, his widow did) against John Ashcroft (before J.A. was confirmed as Attorney General).

I thought he died in a plane crash. Which wasn't enough for the Democrat-icks to pull his name off the ballot.

Didn't he serve as speaker for a short time during Clinton's impeachment after Livingston stepped down? I could be thinking of someone else.

Its too bad Al Gore had to make his last name a quasi-joke with his infamous "What about Dingle-Norwood!!" schtick.

iI hope we can elect a R in this district now.
Herman Cain should run for the seat. That district will definitely elect an R, but not Herman Cain, if you know what I mean.

I don't know. Was he actually still in Congress? Seems odd that if was sick that he would have ran last election. (Then again, democrats ran Mel Carnahan) Charlie Norwood was my Congressman. He was diagnosed with lung cancer last year. A single tumor was removed from one lung. Earlier this year, it was determined that he had liver metastases. Liver cancer is swift and fatal.
Had the liver cancer diagnosis come last year, I doubt he'd have run.

Is this the same guy as the infamous Dingle-Norwood Bill that Gore used to go on about?
