"I think people are paranoid" was how former Grateful Dead member Mickey Hart's comments to Reuters began. Hart was speaking about this year's Grammy Awards and the Dixie Chicks. Then he provided a sterling example of that very paranoia...

Meanwhile, pretty soon the only ones being persecuted will be Global Warming skeptics.
My favourite for putting conservative jabs in music is Leonard Cohen. If the Hollywood types actually listened to any of his lyrics they wouldn't fawn over him so much ;-D
The only suffering the dickie chicks suffered was a lack of sells and a portion of the public who no longer sucks up to them, and instead disdains them. Get used to it.
The USA is one of the few places in the world where you can say what you want and not be punished by the government. Western entertainers have always pretended they suffer for their art. But the fact is they have it better than anyone else in the world. People like the dickie chicks have lives that most people, even in America, can only dream about. I just can't take people like them pretending and whinning about their so-called suffering. Makes me sick.
They want to be compared to people in countries where artists actually do suffer for their art. They want to be martyrs without actually being one. They are like someone who stubbed their toe, and then believes they have suffered just as much as someone who broke their leg.
Yeah, according to my sister, most people do just "attend" Berklee because it is more about getting the connections than getting a degree. My parents pulled my sister out after one semester because she became anorexic. (My sister still wants to go back there.) I don't pay attention to American Idol, but apparently one of those starlets attended Berklee and got anorexic, too. I gather that wasn't an issue for Maines!
"Bloody Peasant!"

Now you're talking greatness.
Good points.
Ann Coulter, in her great books 'Slander' and 'Treason' discusses this very subject with respect to "McCarthyism".
McCarthyism is the "Trail of Tears", the "Potato Famine" and "The Holocaust" for liberals. It is their way to imply they have suffered.
I agree with you, it is pretty disgusting. They should read 'The Gulag Archipelago' or 'Night' to get some perspective, but I suspect it would be lost on them.
That`s exactly what it is. Another thing is what someone told me last year, the industry move away from music to more of an image based way to sell CD`s. The music took a back seat to liberal idealogies, they made the women dress and act like skanks because according to liberals being a skank is cool, made the blacks criminals because being a criminal is cool (when rap started it wasn`t at ALL like that!), make the guys drug crazed psychopaths with tons of tattoos because that is cool. Meanwhile the music is absolute s**t. And they wonder why it isn`t selling? It`s pretty pathetic when I can go to any small dive here in NYC and see a band made up of normal people blow away anything on the radio today yet they can`t get anywhere because they don`t fit the liberal requirements of being multiple pierced, multi-tattooed, multi-criminal, commie loving, skank promoting, women hating musicians.
True statement. As such, these same "important" people are considered to have intellect surpassing the norm, but in actuality are one hamburger short of a Happy Meal.
Agreed.
And upon graduation they are condemned to play on the platform at the Park Street T Station. A friend of mine is on staff there. It is filled with the idiot children of the idle rich.
Of course they want to believe that the government is oppressing them. It gives them some sense of importance for doing what is basically a mindless job.
Everyone has an opinion but not everyone gets their face in the news whenever they fart sideways. And hollywood does have an influence on our cultural with their movies and their lifestyle. Especially over the young people.
I owe Natalie an apology. I thought she didn't graduate from high school. Seriously.
But we keep them in business. And so many people adore these people. It makes me sick.
Like a friend of mine was saying; "Why do we call them 'celebrities'? What is there to celebrate about them? They are foolish overpaid bums. Aren`t they the opposite of what we should celebrate in people? Shouldn`t we use the antonym of "celebrities" and call them "nobodies"?
I owe Natalie an apology. I thought she didn't graduate from high school. Seriously.
I really don't think she did graduate from High School. I think she has her GED....that is why she got in at a Jr. College (South Plains College). They take anyone!
