I thought Firesign was around before Cheech and Chong. I remember listening to the "Its me, Dave; Dave's not here," routine in 69 or so on the Firesign Theatre LP.

It was on the C&C album, named "Cheech and Chong" in 1970.

While I remember it all, including Firesign Theater, in a vague sort of way, I had to use Google and Wikipedia for the details.
