Obama Restructures a Remark on Deaths
New York Times ^ | February 13, 2007

Posted on 02/12/2007 10:11:24 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

Senator Barack Obama of Illinois said Monday that he had misspoken when he suggested that the lives of more than 3,000 American soldiers killed in Iraq had been “wasted.”

As he arrived in New Hampshire, Mr. Obama said he would “absolutely apologize” to military families if they were offended by a remark he made in Iowa while criticizing the Bush administration’s Iraq policy.

“What I would say — and meant to say — is that their service hasn’t been honored,” Mr. Obama told reporters in Nashua, N.H., “because our civilian strategy has not honored their courage and bravery, and we have put them in a situation in which it is hard for them to succeed.”

A New Hampshire reporter asked Mr. Obama whether he regretted the remark, made at a rally on Sunday that “we ended up launching a war that should have never been authorized and should have never been waged, and to which we now have spent $400 billion and have seen over 3,000 lives of the bravest young Americans wasted.”

“Even as I said it,” Mr. Obama said Monday, “I realized I had misspoken.”

LOL. At this rate, by next week he might be blaming the poor innocent victims of 9/11 for their own deaths because of America's imperialism.

Nah...Ward Churchill already cornered the market on that one...wouldn't want another presidential candidate (barf) accused of plagiarism (like the one who called Osama "clean" and "articulate")... /s tag not needed

A political amateur in search of power. It should be a humbling experience; of course, for Liberals like Obama; it is just a matter of finding the right excuse.

And this tuckfard has the nerve to try to cast himself in the shadow of Abraham Lincoln, whose war cost 200 x the amount of soldiers that have died in Iraq. This wussy and those like him want to bug out at 3200 or so in four years...what would they have done at 600,000+?

“because our civilian strategy has not honored their courage and bravery, and we have put them in a situation in which it is hard for them to succeed.”

At first this didn't make sense to me but after rereading Al Zawahiri's taped message they sound so much alike.

The tape, apparently aimed at an American audience, contains English subtitles and a warning that American civilians are responsible for Bush policies because they "chose Bush twice."

Maybe I'm just paranoid. The whole Osama/Obama thing bugs me. And who is Zawahiri referring to when he says the one who exams the president's personality finds two other faults? They've been busy little beavers researching the president.

Inquiring minds.

Too late.
He said what he thought.
We heard it.

Damn straight. If he'd just open his eyes, he'd see that our military's service is honored all the time, by people all over this country who meet the planes w/returning GIs, who bring servicemen home for Thanksgiving, who visit the wounded, who counter-protest against groups such as Code Pink.

We see you for the military hater that you are, Obama. To hell with you.

I definitely remember her visit to Iraq and love the special pix with our soldier - but - don't remember reading of her trashing our President while there.

I googled and found many articles and I didn't think my opinion could go lower, but it did!!!! She is scum!! And Barack Huessin Obama is right beside her!!!!!

Home again, Hillary bashes Bush

By James G. Lakely
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

"Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, fresh from her own trip to Iraq, accused President Bush yesterday of conducting the war by a "political calendar," saying he had dispatched the wrong "mix of troops" to secure the country and that victory "is not certain.-----"

This guy is not ready for prime time.

He starts out by invoking the opposite meaning of Lincoln's "House Divided" speech.

Based on how he responded to John Howard, President Obama is going to trash talk to every ally we have. Is this what gravitas looks like?

And now this.

Barack Obama - more evidence of why this country does not often elect Senators to be President.

Here's to his long and successful career as a Sunday morning talk show guest, after this campaign ends. He has all the makings of a Dick Durbin / Ted Kennedy bastion of liberal thought and speech.

As long as he doesn't have to actually do something useful.

"One's reminded of that old saying, 'Don't taunt the alligator until after you've crossed the creek and never eat spinach just before going on the air.”

Now, I'll take any audience questions that have to do with Senator Obama's time in the Illinois Air National Guard.

But, but, the MSM keeps telling us that Obama is a rock star.

Prediction: Unless he self-destructs first, Obama will be Hillary's b*tch and will be her VP candidate.

Obama will be Hillary's b*tch and will be her VP candidate.

Absolutely no way.
Hillary needs somebody who looks "moderate", non-polarizing, and traditional. She will have a white male VP, carefully calculated to help with the electoral map. It won't be 2004 losing VP candidate John Edwards... Who will it be?
