Listen, if being in the military were necessary to be president then FDR should never have been elected. If I wanted someone with combat experience I would NOT have voted for George Bush but would have voted for John Kerry because Bush had no combat experience and had a VP who was deferred. I should never had voted for Reagan because he was stationed in Hollywood because of his eyesight and never had combat experience. But I voted for both George Bush and Reagan twice. So being in the military does not mean you are automatically qualified to be president. If that's the case then Kerry should have won over Bush. Thank god he didn't. You don't get it. Not at all.
Conservatives, and specifically Free Republic, beat the hell out of liberal Bill Clinton on his draft deferment. There is absolutely NO reason why we should not beat on Giuliani for the very same thing. In fact, there is good reason that we SHOULD beat on him over it in order to remain consistant. He deserves precisely what he's going to get for getting the"I'm a super special Democrat law clerk" deferment (he was a liberal Democrat back then) to avoid being drafted to Vietnam.

Conservatives, and specifically Free Republic, beat the hell out of liberal Bill Clinton on his draft deferment. Yea and where did it get you? 8 years of him! Beating someone on whether they served in the military is fruitless and doesn't work. Try again!

Beating someone on whether they served in the military is fruitless and doesn't work.It isn't about not serving in the military. It's about special treatment to stay out of the draft.
Oh, and considering that Clinton never won a majority, I'd say this had some impact. The GOP was just too dumb to run right against the likes of Slick.

Conservatives, and specifically Free Republic, beat the hell out of liberal Bill Clinton on his draft deferment. You don't get it! The Free Republic Code is: R equals Good, D equals baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.
Clinton had a D, Rudi has an R. Therefore it is completely different.
You need to be reprogrammed.

Working or not, that's what they do & that's not what Sessions is doing. How's it working for Republican voters who sat on their hands in '06 & helped create a Democrat house & senate majority? Wanna go for the trifecta in '08?

Jeeze then maybe we should start beating up on Cheney? He got out of the draft too? Now would you start doing that? I don't think so. I know I wouldn't.

Just so everyone is clear...Pete Sessions is
NOT the Senator Jeff Sessions from Alabama.
I'd be shocked if Sen. Jeff Sessions endorsed Rudy.

There really isn't anything Rudy Giuliani has ever done or could ever do that would even make you blink in your support, is there?
You're really losing credibility on this one. This isn't a difference of opinion on issues or where to rank them. This stinks to high heaven and deserves condemnation.

I am a longtime Bush supporter from 1994 forward and after what I read on a link yesterday that was posted about something that was said about then Gov Bush in Aug 2000, Bush, despite his flaws, is still center right, especially on key areas such as abortion and gun rights. Bush, however, stands poised to rift the party if he signs amnesty. Rudy would drive the rift even further apart with his support of amnesty, abortion, gay rights, gun control and CFR.

Giuliani probably fits right in the middle of that range. I went through an exercise with another Freeper last week in which we documented Giuliani's track record on ten major issues, and the end result was that he probably warrants an "equivalent ACU rating" of 20-25.

If you can't see the difference between ...a pro-abortion, anti 2nd amendment, pro-homosexual
... then you are beyond hope.
A 45 ACU rating is not the same as a 5 ACU rating.
And being for school lunches isn't being for abortion.

My point is that I don't trust any of them. New York politics makes for some strange bedfellows, and there's a damn good reason why New York is the only place in the country where the Conservative Party has been a major, viable presence for years.

BTW, so what that most if not all GOP supported the Contract. Is that supposed to make her support less valid? No, but it does make her support less meaningful.
She was a left-wing dope for the most part, and cemented herself in that camp by being one of the only GOP members of Congress to vote for Clinton's infamous Family & Medical Leave Act in 1993.

Jeeze then maybe we should start beating up on Cheney? He got out of the draft too?Did he get special treatment? As I recall, when Cheny was in college, he was able to get a standard deferment without a special favor from a high-level official.

Exactly.
Rudy is a swell guy, but he does not represent what the Republican Party stands for.
This is insane.
