Please check out Phsstpok’s EXCELLENT Sunday Talk Show PRE-Thread. It’s a great way to hear analysis on why the DBM picks the guests, what they’ll probably discuss, and other pertinent facts. Also, check out his blog!

A very good day to ignore Snuffleupagas.......ugh!

Seems the rest of the shows are getting the message that we want balance.

McConnell has turned out to be quite the leader!

Thanks, AB & Good Morning to EveryOne. Congrats to the last week's topsters.

Week & again, he proves that Russert is NOT an honest host. Now after clear proof of NBC's (especially Russert's) Connection in truth twisting, I think Republicans should Boycott MTP until it's democrat hack anchor is replaced.

Morning AB....all.

This week we have the saga of the garage door.

Indeed.

For I was entering the garage after mass yesterday, just doing my thing, hurting no one.

From my car, thanks to God Bless America, I can actually press a button IN the car to close the garage door once I am safely ensconced inside. Which I did.

All of a sudden the cacaphony would deafen the dead. Of course I screamed as I was convinced that I'd somehow left my Jeep sticking out past the closing door and the terrible, screechy sounds were the decibals caused by a Jeep getting crushed silly by a runaway garage door.

Husband, then inside the house without a clue, hears my feminine screams and comes to the rescue. Heh. Well HE don't know what the hell happened either but he keeps telling me to calm down. Which I did not.

I am, naturally, scared to look as who wants to see their beloved Jeep Liberty squashed like a bug? Husband, still with his finger over his lips as body language indicator that I should stop my screaming, walks softly toward the garage doors, now silent and still.

Husband hits the button inside the garage to open the door and boom, it opens. Only it opens only about five inches then stops. The Jeep, by the way, is fine, far from the garage door and whatever caused that hellacious noise.

We both scrutinize the garage door all over, wondering just why it will only open five inches and what the hell was all that noise. On the OTHER side of the garage door, which I logically accessed by going outside from inside the house, all kinds of chains and shit are hanging down in front of the garage door. This, I knew deep in my homeowner's finely honed instinct, was not a good sign.

Well it turns out that the "spring" on the garage door snapped, boom, just like that. Looking up from the garage floor, one can clearly see that this spring thing, a full three or four feet long by my measure, is broke right in two. Once the spring stops turning to pull the chains and stuff that pulls the door open and shut, well that's pretty much that.

Husband does some Internet research all the while I am doing what any normal female would do under the circumstances...I demand that he fix it immediately. Hey, my Jeep is STUCK inside the garage and husband informs me that the manual over-ride will NOT work with that spring broken like it is. Husband then informs me that these springs last about 7000 opens/closes and it was evidently time for this one to, heh, "spring". And don't forget this cold weather which is wreaking all kinds of havoc around here, not that I'm alone.

I figger if worse comes to worse, I can always fire up that Jeep, get it revved to full potential, and BUST my way out of that garage. Husband, meanwhile, is going to provide me a number to call to get it fixed. Whatever but somehow I know this is going to cost bucks.

On another note, husband also has informed me, solemnly, that he is NOT the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby. So I must ask all yon fellows now, come on, tell the truth....any possible fathers out there you're not telling us about? Come on, join the crowd.

I'm anxious to see Mitch McConnell.

I don't see Obama's name

I was hoping someone would point out Obama's hypocrisy.

Obama pretends he is following in the footsteps of the Great Emancipator, but, in reality, Obama prefers the "compromise" route. (I wish I could think of a title for Obama that is an antonym for "emancipator." )

In 1861, Obama would have said, "If the South wants Fort Sumter, let them keep it. We don't want to get into a "dumb" civil war."

Obama is no modern day Moses who would go "way down to Baghdad-land" to free millions of Shi'ites.

To Obama's way of thinking Iraqis (especially Shi'ites) could just smile and submit to being slaughtered and raped and attacked by dogs.

Obama says, in effect, "Why get rid of a monstrous dictator who threatens his own people as well as the rest of the world?"

I think it should be apparent that Obama does not have ancestors who were enslaved, raped, and attacked by dogs. He appears to be totally insensitive to the plight of people whose lives are controlled by a monster like Saddam, Uday, or Qusay.

Fox has a new name - Jack Reed - on the show. I wonder if they provided directions to the studio, or sent somebody to pick him up.

Knowing FOX, if they sent somebody to pick him up, there would be one driver to make right turns, and a talkative liberal to make the left turns.

LATE EDITION (CNN) : Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif

Hunter needs to go on these shows early and often. He needs to cool his protectionist talk. He needs to cool his talk of abortion being a Federal issue without a Constitutional amendment. Instead he needs to talk like a good and serious unifying conservative candidate that can pull us out of the Rudy-Mitt-McCain morass that we are in.

Honorable Mention Awards for Sunday, February 11th, 2007

I mistakenly posted the awards for Feb 11 on the Feb 4th thread.  This is a repost to get them with the right thread for reference.  I'm not going to  reping everyone to avoid confusion.  I did ping everyone on these posts with a link to where they were posted, even if it was the wrong thread.

An embarrassment of riches this week.  We've been having a bit of a dry spell since the election compared to the level of stellar activity during the campaigns.  We seem to have shaken that off with this last weeks show thread.  Well done!  In fact, I was getting to the point that I was going to simply point everyone to the thread itself for all of the posts because they were all excellent (except for one having something to do with King Arthur's Court... <g>)

Because of the sheer volume of what I consider notable posts I'm altering my normal pattern in posting the awards.  Here is a list of the posts outside of the top 10 with only links to the posts that caught my eye, without any text from those posts.  I'll also post the same list with the text of the posts after the top 10 is posted and will do the same type of double post with and without text of the top 10.

Sorry to be so late in posting this.  The surge in posts coupled with a full week of business travel conspired to put a hitch in my giddyup.  And now I've got to try to get the preview thread done!

Congratulations to all.

Top 10 Awards for Sunday, February 11th, 2007

no text

As with the entire thread we have an embarrassment of riches here.  I could see awarding first place to any of these 10, along with a good many of those in the honorable mention list.  It was that kind of week.  Were I in a position to do this by points we'd be talking differences of thousands of a point on all ten of these posters this week.  Truly an excellent thread.

Congratulations and I'm sorry for the delay.

10th place Bahbah - #63; #93; #148; #180; #190; #197; #246; #277; #281; #288; #299; #333; #358; #408; #430; #568; #598;

9th place eeevil conservative - #559; #585;

8th place Alas Babylon! - #87; #94; #434; #464; #486;

7th place rodguy911 - #174; #216; #243; #305; #322; #391; #402; #438; #587;

6th place samantha - #31; #182; #304; #377; #395; #564; #614; #620;

5th place anita - #6; #10; #25; #58; #189; #416;

4th place txradioguy - #424; #427; #449; #580;

3rd place Txsleuth - #294; #297; #302; #309; #314; #324; #330; #351; #357; #362; #370; #399; #405; #417; #463; #536; #606; #623;

Very good reporting for those who couldn't see some of the shows or for those who saw but didn't catch the important items she found for us.  Add to that insight and analysis that explains what was being said as well as what was not, and you have a great showing this week.

2nd place Morgan in Denver - #276; #332; #421; #425; #452; #479; #529; #547; #551; #561; #577; #586; #691; #704;

Very strong and some important analysis of the topics being discussed this week.  And it's not a brag if it's true.

1st place Laverne - #11; #15; #42; #84; #89; #110; #158; #173; #207; #219; #234; #264; #312; #338; #385; #423; #439; Excellent observations of fact from the show and even better analysis.  Oh, and a bit of very attractive wishful thinking as well.
