Considering all the contradictions, and I believe outright lies, coming from Hillary or Edwards along with so many other Democrats, there is no way I believe they would remain in support of our efforts in Afghanistan.

As long as bin Laden and AQ are running loose, I will agree to disagree. The other fly in the ointment is that any withdrawal will have to be done as part of a NATO resoultion to leave, which shouldn't be too difficult.

That'd been like FDR announcing in 1942 that our greatest threat was the dust bowl.

That is a spectacular comparison.  May I recommend that you send it off (with context of referencing Kerry's global warming remark) to as many folks like Rush and Brit that you can.

I know I'm going to use it.

Sounds plausible to me. They did the same to us in Vietnam. The enemy knows that they can't defeat us on the battlefield. Their only hope is the Dem Congress. The more casualties they can inflict, the greater the propanganda impact.

Well, he has almost 6 years before he will worry, and I guess wondering if The State of Ct will still exist is probably more on his mind than re-election. The rats screwed him over big time, and I hope he returns the favor. It is not like Jim Jeffords(senile even then) screwing over the Pubbies by going from Pubbie to Independent, Joltin Joe was an independent because of the anti War/ Anti American Rats. He is very clever, and shrewd.

We will get together, don't know when, my schedule is so screwed up,it's hard to make plans that far in advance.
Only thing I know right now is I have a major promotion in Pensacola from 2/26-3/3.
After that it's back to the Carolinas in mid march, but i don't know when yet.
Owning a small business is fast becoming a suicidal mission.

My own choice of ONE of our great dangers is the dishonesty/bias of the DBM.
----

I hear you, but I would say it is THE greatest danger.

The DBM protects the dems. Without the media, the vapid stupidity of the dems would be apparent to all.

@@@@@

THe Hunter has got Wolf's number. Last fall in a previous appearance he said, "Wolf, do you want us to lose in Iraq:"

Wolf has to be just a bit trembly waiting for a similar slam to come from the Hunter!

Maybe that is why CNN used the Very Distracting (to the cnn viewer) backdrop today for Hunter's appearance - people walking and cycling, birds soaring and swooping, waves crashing == all just behind the head and shoulders of Duncan Hunter, so we could not focus quite as well on his answers, his actual words and thoughts.

I never heard another word about that incident. Did anyone else?

Great post. A little mild, but I liked the 'sickening little worm' part especially.

Hollywood's greatest piece of misleading propaganda in their movies is the portrayal of the CIA as a highly competent organization.

Actually, I believe that the CIA is a highly competent organization, or at least it was and only in comparison to other Washington institutions.  This is from evidence from my wife's uncle who was in The Agency for many years (that nickname is always capitalized).

Like any bureaucracy I'm convinced it follows the 80-20 rule.  80% of the work (both quality and quantity) is done by no more than 20% of the workers.  My impression was that The Agency was quite close to 80-20, while most Washington bureaucracies were closer to 95-5.  In recent history that mix hasn't changed, but I believe that the Clintonistas maneuvered "politically reliable" types in the 80% of incompetent drones into positions of power and they're still there.

That's where operations like Feith's team or Able Danger came from, competent people fed up with the worthless pap being fed to them who started going around the bad bureaucrat's self serving "analysis" and trying to get at the raw data from the competent sources.  What's truly frightening is the treatment the Able Danger people got and what Feith is going through now.  It reminds me of the portrayels of the worst of the inherent corruption and petty "empire building" within the Roman and Byzantine governments during their last days.

If you ever have a chance to read the stories of Winston Churchill's "wilderness years" (my favorite is The Last Lion: Winston Spencer Churchill, Alone 1932-1940 by William Manchester) pay attention to the story of Ralph Wigram for the personal story that really crystalized this view for me.
