Like Reagan, Rudy has a vision. Also like Reagan, he isn't strong on certain issues, or merely APPEARS to be such; I keep hearing about how Reagan wasn't for big government, but that didn't shrink the size of the government while he was in power; nor did it cut spending; nor did it decrease deficit spending.

So when I hear the caterwauling about how Rudy isn't a "Reagan-style conservative" I have to wonder how many people actually paid attention while RWR was president. (He's still the greatest president of my lifetime, I'm just realistic about him.)

"Most of Clinton's policies are very similar to most of mine." - Rudy Giuliani

Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do and how you do it.

There's so much mention of Obama's declaration that he is running for president, and relatively little that Giuliani (spelling?) has done the same.

Skeptics could argue that he is supporting Bush's decision to fight in Iraq to gain the support of conservatives who wouldn't otherwise vote for him (i.e. pro-guns especially, but also pro-lifers and Christian motivated conservatives). Guessing that those groups (again, especially the pro-gun people) would be still supportive of the Iraq decision.

This isn't stating that this is definitively the case, but that skeptics could have this idea or view.

Also his decision to declare his candidacy in California. With California and New York (two very populous blue states) voting for him (California still a long shot), he might be able to weather a few of the more conservative red states not voting for him.

Giuliani, arguing that America is in desperate need of a Ronald Reagan-style
optimistic vision, told California Republicans

You are not worthy of using (R-Reagan) in any speech RG!
SHAME ON YOU!

I'm not buying this crap. Are you?

"You get to decide who that leader is going to be -- and I wish you'd decide on me."

And I WISH I had a pony.

Unfortunately I'll never get that pony, but fortunately Rudy, you'll never get the nomination.

Got to say this is a really attractive aspect of Rudy. He does NOT feed the Bush Derangement Syndrome of the rabid 100%er cliche. He seems to be the ONLY Republican public figure these days who remembers Reagan's 11th Commandment.
