Giuliani Strikes a Note With California GOP Testing the Waters, Former N.Y. Mayor Garners 4 Ovations
SACRAMENTO, Feb. 10 -- Rudolph W. Giuliani came west to learn whether his brand of Republican politics has a chance among party members significantly more conservative than himself. By the time he had received a fourth standing ovation Saturday at the California Republican Party convention, the answer seemed clear.
Equating the U.S. fight against terrorism with the Civil War and the Cold War, Giuliani told about 750 of his party's faithful that failure in Iraq would turn that country into a "massive headquarters for terrorism."
"Having had a job where I didn't have any choice but to make a decision," the former mayor of New York said, "prepares you as best you can be prepared to be the president of the United States."

Rudy has a fiscal conservative record. Arnold does not.
I bet if Rudy was Governor of CA, the gangs would be history, the public unions would be told to get bent, and all those cushy Sacremento state jobs would be sliced.

Yes, he is.
There is NO great white hope and savior of the GOP, lurking out there, just waiting for the right moment to appear.
To: Extremely Extreme Extremist
Rudy's fiscal and national security record far overshadows his social liberalism and bizarre personal life.
--
Why must everyone buy into that as readily as you profess to?
This forum has a lot of folks that can judge things for themselves and should be allowed to do so.
A few here have become very much a bit overzealous and that applies to both sides of the Rudy enigma, if that will assuage anyone's fear that I am picking sides.
It is still very much early in the game so to speak, the trying to stifle others to advance a candidate so eagerly and or trash them as some may choose to do makes this place more than a little tedious, imo.
Pom poms may dazzle the eyes but they also litter up the view. jmo

I never made sweeping claims about Arnold.
But with your plan, we would have had Cruz Bustamante. Would you like him better?
And now you may as well on the chr=erring squad for Hillary! You folks know how to lose ... never to win.

I didn't really want to get in on this thread, since I already know some folks involved in the California Rudy camp and how they planned to bring down the house with applause no matter what he says (it's part of this "make it seem inevitable" thing the Rudophiles have going now. They think their greatest weapon is the idea that nobody else has a chance to win the nod).
Out of respect for some friends I have involved in the whole set-up, I will abstain from ranting too much.
But the thing I find funny is: Do you notice how pretty much every Rudy article in the press - EVERY ONE - has to find someone to quote who's "really Conservative," or a "Hardcore Christian Conservative," who's willing to put aside everything they believe in to support Rudy?
LOL. It's classic.
In this particular article, they get Larry Stirling - a candidate who spoke at the Log Cabin Republicans meeting and was endorsed by the League of Women Voters; he also opposed giving legal protection to unborn children. Among his priorities was, "Supporting federal efforts to ensure senior citizens are able to obtain needed prescription drugs at an affordable price." In the article he says, "I'm a Christian, and his views on a lot of social issues are to the left of mine,..."
In other words, he's portrayed as a hardcore Christian type wary of the views "to the left of his" held by Rudy, but perfectly willing to accept him without a moment's hesitation. In reality, he doesn't even believe in giving legal protection to the unborn or keeping the government away from bloated entitlements.
I swear to you, look out for this - I find this kind of stuff in every Rudy campaign story. These people run to be the ones interviewed, and they all play the exact same role: Social/Christian/Gun Conservative who's hardcore and wary of people to the left of themselves who will NONETHELESS, on a moment's notice, instantly get behind Rudy Giuliani as the GOP nominee.
I've said it before; I'll say it again. The Rudy campaign really, really, really thinks we're stupid.

Nope. The truth is I read his book and it disgusted me. Taking his mistress to Mass on 911? Yuck. He is a moral leper. That is NOT a leader, that is a user.

Voting for a POS like Rudy would piss on their tradition Calling Rudy a "POS" is a little over the line, don't you think?
This is the guy who brought back NYC from the dead, TWICE.

Unfortunately for you there is no one with a chance of beating him except McCain. The Triple H boys combined couldn't do it.

I'm not trying to stifle anyone. I'm fighting for my candidate just like you're trying to fight for yours, Norm.
When the dust settles and whoever is the GOP nominee I will support him, as long as it isn't McCain or Brownback.

That's also because the MSM knows that they win either way if it's Hillary v. Rudy. Abortion-on-demand and open borders will be preserved.
