Giuliani Strikes a Note With California GOP Testing the Waters, Former N.Y. Mayor Garners 4 Ovations
SACRAMENTO, Feb. 10 -- Rudolph W. Giuliani came west to learn whether his brand of Republican politics has a chance among party members significantly more conservative than himself. By the time he had received a fourth standing ovation Saturday at the California Republican Party convention, the answer seemed clear.
Equating the U.S. fight against terrorism with the Civil War and the Cold War, Giuliani told about 750 of his party's faithful that failure in Iraq would turn that country into a "massive headquarters for terrorism."
"Having had a job where I didn't have any choice but to make a decision," the former mayor of New York said, "prepares you as best you can be prepared to be the president of the United States."

The funny thing is even if Rick Santorum or some other social conservative hero was elected President with 70% of the vote, he could do little to nothing about outlawing abortion anyway.
Good response!
"Because your chart is redundant and a waste of bandwidth. Rudy supporters know about his social liberal past, yet we still support him."
No reason to run from the truth, it seems to me. If his supporters don't care, then why should they care if the chart is posted?
This conservative will never be voting for Rudy... I tell you that.
Yeah, rudy and his anti-war, communist organization membership will really help.
Why are you pinging pro life people? This thread isn't about abortion.Yes it is. Rudy is a big-time abortion supporter. But let's ask my pro-life ping list, are you for Rudy and his pro-abortion agenda?
+Freep-mail me to get on or off my pro-life and Catholic Ping List:
Please ping me to all note-worthy Pro-Life or Catholic threads, or other threads of interest.
LOL ... a how to question and answer it was.
actually it was a qestion about FR HTML coding
Rudy is an ardent NARAL supporter. He is a baby-killer. He takes their blood money. You embrace that murderous crowd when you embrace Rudy.
"If Rudy's here in the land of Mexifornia, he's obviously pandering to the hispanic vote by talking about legalization (amnesty)."
Couldn't agree more. As mayor of New York City, he even sued to defend the city's illegal immigrant sanctuary policy.
A Guiliani Administration will make the Bush Administration seem conservative when it comes to border security and sovereignty.
Anybody that cares about borders shouldn't be voting for Rudy in '08.
You want to CHANGE abortion, then have your Congressman introduce legislation to ban it through a Constitutional Amendment, or support the GOP candidate who has the money, leadership, record, and said he'll support strict constructionists who'll overturn that wretched decision.
Otherwise, you have no case.
I couldn't have said it better myself.
Abortion is the LAW.
Abortion is the LAW.
Abortion is the LAW.
And Rudy supports that abortion of our legal system. He takes NARAL money. He argues against the GOP pro-life position. He endorses Democraps for high office. He appointed Democraps to judgeships and commission in NYC. He is a dres-wearing, gun-grabbing, Sanger supporting babykiller.
I said on some social issues, he's a social conservative. Ending race-based preferences, speaking out on fatherless children and perpetual poverty, this is social conservatism. Rudy is probably the only elected Republican I know who took these issues head-on, while the other Republicans were cowering in their corners out of fear of the liberal media.
"You Rudy haters love to post this and that like those who support him do not have a clue for which he stands."
I know he has publicly stated that he would pay for his own daughter to have an abortion.
Frankly, that's all I need to know. I will never vote for the man.
"...as an overt-desperate-to-retain-the-Exec-Branch Republican, ..."
Desperation is a bad thing in politics. So is liberalism. Get help.
The California GOP is notoriously hard nosed.
At the same convention they rebuffed Arnold and EMBRACED Rudy.
