Failed 'Hillarycare' Taught Me a Lesson, Says Sen. Clinton

Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that her unsuccessful health care reform effort in 1993 makes her more effective on the issue now as she seeks the presidency

This week, rival John Edwards offered his plan for universal health care that calls for a tax increase to ensure health care coverage for all and a requirement that businesses provide insurance. The tax increase would pay for the plan's cost of up to $120 billion a year.

"The president can propose, but the Congress has to dispose, and if we don't have a consensus in the country that our present system is no longer adequate to provide quality affordable coverage to every American and increase the competitiveness of our economy and reduce the burden on individuals, then we can't get any plan sent forward," she said.

"increase the competitiveness of our economy and reduce the burden on individuals" If the burden isn't going to be on individuals, then who will it be on? Taxpayers? The biggest problem with our health care system is that patients are mostly insulated from the cost of their choices because someone else is paying. "Reducing the burden on individuals" when there are very few high deductible policies out there is absurd.

Typical liberal idiocy..."Focus on my dreams, and pay NO ATTENTION to my actual record."

It takes just two seconds for any thinking person to reduce liberalism to its basic phychological and philosophical terms. How can you tell liberalism takes its nod from full-blown Communism? It's all about the perfect future, all about the perfect plan, all about working together to achieve a common vision... And nothing to do with reality (i.e. history, facts, failures, costs, and consequences) can be allowed to have ANY bearing on these glorious plans for future perfection.

Liberalism is utter madness, and Hillary! is the rodeo queen of the loony bin.

provide quality affordable coverage to every American and increase the competitiveness of our economy and reduce the burden on individuals

1. No government agency has ever provided 'quality affordable' services of any kind. A definite oxymoron.

2. Tax increases will not 'increase the competitiveness' of the economy.

3. Tax increases and government provided health care will increase the burden on individuals, not 'reduce' it.

I agree. The only thing she learned from the 'Hillarycare' fiasco is to be more secretive until the plan is so far along that it can no longer be stopped.

I hope there are good ads in '08 detailing all her lies and obstructions from the past. She is one evil woman.

..."But the first step is getting a majority of our citizens convinced it has to be done," she said.

Interesting way to phrase the statement....she needs to convince people it HAS to be done..............Hmmmm

Looks like the Clinton propaganda machine is being fueled up and ready to roll.

* Daily horror stories in the MSM on people trapped by an unfair health system

* Evil mean corporations not giving people health coverage

* Targeting young people, minority, single moms, average Jane and Joe's

* All the morning TV talk shows featuring health professionals declaring a universal system is the ONLY solution

All it taught the witch is that socializing and nationalizing huge corners of the economy must be done very quickly before the masses discover what scheme she's up to.

Their entire existence is based upon erecting negative illusions about non-problems.

Boy, did you ever nail it.

I guess she realizes it'll take one or more generations' worth of indoctrination in the government schools for the ground to be sufficiently softened.

And here's a larger matter: Candidate Clinton has been reduced to reacting to other candidates, rather than leading.

She is NOT a leader, and that is the impression she is making all along the way.

Hahahahahahaha.

Yes. As a taxpayer I'm pretty much tapped out. This cash cow has been milked dry. If the Rats win the White House in '08 I think that will be the final nail.

Bookmark this quote. What are MALDEF and LULAC going to say about this?

Or is she for an immediate path to citizenship?

I still don't understand why she felt like she had to jump in now, rather than wait until Labor Day. She'll always be able to raise money, and now she's having to go public with her views.

It really bugs me that so many are fooled by these charlatans.

Democrat voters are blinded by their own envy. It's not enough to steal from those they envy, they must devour them.

No, it didn't. If it had taught you a lesson, you wouldn't be running for president now.

I believe former Sen Graham (R-TX) said it best, referring to the Hillary-healthcare plan being passed "over my cold, dead body". Will there be any rock-ribbed, titanium-spined conservatives left who will express similar sentiment?
