HH: Are you aware of the work of Michael Yon and Bill Roggio?

JB: I’m not. Tell me about them.

HH: Well, they’re independents who are out embedded with troops in combat zones from Fallujah to Mosul and into Baghdad, etc.

JB: Yes, I’ve heard about them.

HH: So they’re freelance people, and I was wondering if they’d influenced you at all, or if you’d met them at all.

JB: No, I’ve heard about people who do this. I haven’t met them, and you know, it’s…this new media thing is something that we’re all struggling to cope with, and of course, they have a kind of, if you will, an independence and a free-wheeling way of doing things which I think is all for the good. I think more competition, more voices, more perspectives…bring it on. It’s good for all of us, and it keeps us on our toes.

No,yes,no. JB is confused. "new media thing", "struggling to cope with", "bring it on"

What I get out of this interview is that if we pull out of Iraq because of all the Democrat and mainstream media nay sayers then aren't these same people responsible for a tacit acceptance of genocide.

Sounds just like Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam all over?

I found it disheartening that he wasn't really aware of the job that Michael Yon is doing to present the war from the military perspective.

This brings up the question of why aren't there more reporters embedded with US troops. If there are only 70 MSM reporters from the US and foriegn countries, that simply isn't enough manpower to cover the war adequately.

there is a firewall, and it’s real, it’s real, between the editorial page and the news pages.

This single sentence fragment tells you that everything else that you read in this article is a GD lie. Period.

"And to tell you the truth, I have no idea how the executive editor at the New York Times votes...."

Anyone who can say this without a smirk or a wink is a stone-cold liar. I know John Burns is supposed to be better than the typical snot-nosed MSM leftist, but c'mon, this statement does not pass the laugh-out-loud test!!

That's why NY Slimes had front page news and pix of AbuGhraib for about thirty six straight days. If John Burns actually believes what he is saying then he is indeed a profoundly obtuse intellectual cripple. Otherwise he's just a bought liar.

John Burns is being interviewed by Brian Lamb on CSPAN right now. I know that HHewitt was very impressed by him, but I must say his physical appearance diminishes his credibility as an incountry reporter to me.

His hair is gray and as afro as a Halloween clown wig! He is wearing an illfitting blue blazer, and khaki pants. What a strange looking creature.
