Giuliani Provides Experience In 2008
Pepperdine University Graphic ^ | 2/9/07 | SCOTT MILLER

Slow and steady wins the race, as the old adage goes. That is certainly the approach that former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani has been taking with his possible White House run in 2008. Let’s hope that the adage holds true for Giuliani in the next couple years.

In November, Giuliani created a presidential exploratory committee to “test the waters.” Since then, sources in the Giuliani camp have said that he recently filed a “statement of candidacy” with the Federal Elections Committee, a step that puts him on the same legal level with other Republican hopefuls as Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts, and Sen. John McCain (R- Ariz.).

While Giuliani has been met with some criticism from right-wing opponents who say his social platform is far too liberal for the Republican nomination (pro-choice and pro-civil unions), many others recall his leadership after the Sept. 11th attacks of 2001. Proponents also recall Giuliani’s record on crime in New York City, which was one of the most criminal cities in America prior to his being mayor; and became one of the safest cities in the United States by the end of his tenure.

While mayor, Giuliani also cut taxes to the lowest tax burden for New Yorkers in three decades, by eliminating 23 unnecessary city taxes. He also headed a welfare reform program that created job centers, instead of merely granting handouts. This mind set upholds the basic social contract that the United Stated is founded on: for every right, there is a responsibility and duty. Giuliani also managed to increase education spending 50 percent; he created the nation’s largest charter school fund, as well.

This is the kind of action that a presidential candidate needs to have under his resume. While Barack Obama could provide a fresh face to the executive office, he is simply not qualified or experienced enough. The presidency is an office that requires the know-how of a seasoned political veteran. Along with his impressive career in New York, Giuliani also has a long resume of public offices, including Deputy Attorney General and US Attorney for the Southern District of New York. His experience is what will guide the United States out of its international and domestic struggles.

Since the Democratic power coup in Congress, both political parties have been flamboyantly throwing the term “bi-partisan” around like candy at Halloween. If bi-partisan cooperation for the betterment of the United States is what everyone wants, then we should promote and elect a leader who will give that sort of balanced thinking to the most powerful office in the United States.

Let’s elect a man who has proven himself time and again as mayor of New York City, and during one of the United States’ darkest hours on Sept. 11th. Let’s elect “America’s Mayor.”

Mayor Giuliani in 2000 appointed Ms. Weinshall to the post due to her political connections — she is the wife of Senator Schumer!

He has lots of experience supporting democrats!

I would say the Mayor of New York City is equivalent to a governor, and more qualified than any Congressman or Senator (or Governor of Arkansas) for the Presidency.

A Giuliani/Romney ticket would cause major gastro-intestinal pains for the Democrats, and could achieve a huge electoral victory.

You've GOT to be sh*tting us?

RINO-rudy appointed the wife of THE Gun-Grabber-Extraordinaire, ol' chuckie schumer himself?

Yet ANOTHER good reason to give this gun-grabbing RINO a pass.

Now, let's tell it the WAY I SEE IT! :)

BEWARE!... Social-conservatives, Christian conservatives or moral-conservatives of ANY KIND..

*** WE NEED TO UNITE ***

WHO? I don't know, but here we are, in the middle of the Internet revolution, and yet, I feel as if someone, somewhere, is pulling the strings to elect a LEFTY 'Republican! (I still don't get used to the label /s).

I believe Guliani's CONSULTANTS team tactic is simply to DIVIDE the Republicans. Attract as many Lefty Republicans by painting Mr. RG as the CHAMPION OF NATIONAL SECURITY!... Just because, yes, He cleaned up N.Y. and acted with leadership on 9/11... Great as those things are, does not make him the Republican Presidential candidate by default...HARDLY!

And I should say, if he were a social-conservative (as DUNCAN is) THEN, I would be pulling hard for him!...But as it is NO WAY IN HELL I WILL VOTE FOR HIM!... Because if he gets elected, well, social-conservatives LOSE AND the LEFT WINS... That simple. All true social, Christian or Moral conservatives should above all, DENY out vote to the Left... And Rudy is the LEFT on social issues, and those are our issues.

I have nothing against Duncan Hunter, but he wouldn't even be able to carry Southern California in a general election. He's the Dennis Kucinich of the Right.

But if FR voters want to go down to defeat in a glorious blaze of principle, he's the man. ;)

With all due respect, AreaFiftyOne, If our founding fathers were voting today the New York ex-Major would not be in the running... much, much too liberal. Pro-abortion, friendly toward gays and favors gun control. There's more but the point to make is Duncan Hunter would be their candidate. Who else is as close to having our Founders values?

You obviously do not know Hunter very well. A well established man in the conservative Reaganite wing of the GOP, more versed in military affairs than anybody in DC right now, and a solid, common sense Vietnam vet. To think that he is the Kucinich of the right shows me glaring ignorance of the man. Ron Paul might be the Kucinich of the right. Hunter would more aptly be described as the Lieberman of the left, but even that is a grave injustice.

But as a Presidential candidate, he'll play in the MSM as the stereotypical "Rich, white, ugly, Christian conservative, warmonger who won't let your daughter have the safe, legal abortion that is her Constitutional right!!!"

A man who has zero chance of winning his home state can't be a major party's nominee. He's exactly the parallel of Kucinich - the ideologically pure candidate who plays well to the hard-core faithful but is easy for the opposition to caricature.

To: areafiftyone

Do we want "ideologically pure", or do we want real competence in the White House subsequent to January 2009?

We shall get our "ideologically pure" but probably totally incompetent head of state after Bush leaves office, and if Herself, the Cold and Joyless, assumes the mantle of power. Like the period between early 1993 to early 2001, the Oval Office shall then be occupied, but no discernible leadership will be displayed. Grand pronouncements and very short-sighted "feel-good" enactments of law, coupled with an aggressive suppressioin of all dissent, shall be the hallmarks of this new regime. Plus some HUGE scandals will blow up that threaten the very foundations of our national identity.

With Giuliani, we may at least expect the effectiveness of swift and well-thought-out decisions, and sufficient assertion of national will, to greatly clarify national and international intent and prospective actions. So what if he is not "ideologically pure", we should demand continued competence.

But a goodly part of the American electorate neither demands or wants competence. Shall it be 49%, or 51%, and will that majority translate into an Electoral College win?

We have a history of electing rich white warmongering ugly christian conservatives who don't want your daughter to have an abortion.

What we don't have is a history of electing social, gun grabbing, abortion supporting big city mayors, or governors who like state controlled universal health care coverage and who in the last two months change their positions on abortion and guns, or unstable arizona senators who are darlings of the MSM.

And for that matter we have no history of electing screechy left wing women or black guys in empty suits because they are articulate.

"Giuliani Provides Experience," as attested by his track record of using the power of the state to harass, sue and persecute lawful businesses.

His attack upon the lawful trade in and ownership of firearms, both CONSTITUTIONALLY protected activities, will keep many away from the polls. His nomination will result in the election of Clintonbitch.

She is cackling gleefully and rubbing her nasty hands together at the prospect of facing him in the election.

Well I can't speak for the Founding Fathers and neither can anyone else because they are not alive but most people in the U.S. like Rudy and want him to be president so far. And I've seen what he has done (which is a hell of a lot more than all the politicians running including Hunter!) If things change and Rudy loses I will vote for the Republican who wins and If you think the Founding Fathers wouldn't approve of the Republican who wins be it Romney, McCain or Rudy - I say that would be their choice and I have mine.
