A story out of Reuters this week, carried by the mainstream media (MSM), and then soon thereafter distributed widely by American Islamist organizations makes the pronouncement that a Fear of bias keeps U.S. Muslims out of the military, (February 6, 2007 by Bernd Debusmann). This dismissal of American Muslim responsibility for military service is preposterous. Reuters found immediate approval from Ibrahim Hooper of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). He is always too willing to confirm all claims of anti-Muslim bias substantiated or not from a naïve reporter.

Not a big surprise.
And it probably is a blessing in disguise - to put it kindly...
Perhaps but be careful what you wish for. No doubt the spin will be that the military (and military families) are anti-Islamic bigots.
Increasing Muslim enlistment requires just one thing:
Declaring war on Israel.
There was that Soldier who did kill all his co workers a few years ago in the tent.
It's not just in America. It's everywhere, where there's a sizable Muslim minority.
Assuming that the Muslim population in France increases at it's current rate, the Muslim population of the enlisted ranks will increase. Native Frenchmen can't be bothered, and the immigrants see it as stable job that's like an adult daycare compared to being in their home country's military. If, in 20 years, the French military is 50% or more Muslim, who's holding the power in France, push comes to shove? How about in 30 years? How far away is that, really?
Muslim leaders can openly call on their followers to join up. Uber PC French leaders? Why, asking their native Frenchmen to join the military would be both unpleasant, unpopular, and an admission than things have gone wrong. Sadly, things have gone wrong, and as the percentage of Muslims increase, their representation in the French military will continue to skyrocket.
Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth.
I read a recent article from the Christian Science Monitor that put the number of military members who are Muslim at between 3,000-12,000. The reason why there is such a large margin is because the military isn't in the practice of counting its members by religious affiliation.
The article went further with interviews from Muslims that serve in our military... and they consider themselves an asset. Many have the communication abilities that we need right now in the Middle East. And most importantly, they are able to converse with the citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan, help them with problems, gather intelligence and go after the insurgients.
One soldier said that the locals never let him sleep at night while he was on tour. They would come to him under cover of darkness and relay information... they would talk about rumors, or undesirables in the area... or information that there was an attack planned in the immediate future.
We should always use what is available to us and be thankful that these men are serving us as American soldiers, first and foremost.
Good question. I'm guessing it's conterproductive to jihad?
As for MSM picking it up, they won't as long as Obama's around.
conterproductive = counterproductive. Pass the coffee. Thanks.
I, frankly, don't care why they don't. I don't want them in my countries military. I don't believe they would be loyal to the oath or the flag.
indeed
They already received military training in Pakistan ??
The military will interfere with Muslims who are too busy beating up women, butchering relatives,
And if they were enlisting then a significant portion of the people around here would be complaining about that.
that's my point...the author served and was decorated in the US Navy and since we are always saying "where are the moderate Muslim voices"...well, here is one! We should at least take his words at face value - he is courageously taking on CAIR, and that's what America desperately needs: a Muslim going after CAIR.
"Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth."
Exactly!
