(CNSNews.com) - Weeks after accusing President Bush of "shameful" behavior over the imprisonment of two Border Patrol agents who shot an unarmed suspected drug smuggler along the U.S.-Mexico border, a federal lawmaker turned up the heat further Wednesday, suggesting the president should be impeached if either of the two men is murdered in prison.

I LOVE Ted Poe! So proud to say he's my rep and I helped work for his election.

You know I get really sick of the "real" conservative thing. What is it you're saying to me. Why the quotation marks? Are you mocking my position? Or are you just trying to belittle it?

You've been around FR long enough to know as well as I that plenty of people run around here claiming they are the real or true conservatives. Only people who think like them are conservatives, and everyone else is a "RINO" or a liberal, etc.

You may get sick of the quotes around real, but I get sick of such narrow, exclusionary claims. So I guess that makes us even.

I use the quotes in the way they are meant grammatically, that is, meaning so-called. I do so in a debate such as this in order to point out that I don't think it is at all conservative to do the following:

1. Threaten to impeach this or any president of the United States if convicted felons are hurt while in prison.

2. Try to do an end-run around the courts, jury system, and appeals process by brow-beating this or any president into interfering while the case is still proceeding through the courts. Although, like many here, I do not have much faith in our judicial system, it's the only one we have.

3. Once such a precedent is established, all sorts of pressure groups will try to do exactly the same thing for their pet convicts. Time and again, conservatives have fallen for matters such as this, which are flogged by a range of media, hucksters and politicians for their own selfish purposes. To be blunt, they know how to push your buttons. Time and again, these things come back to bite conservatives in the butt, and open the door for others to try the same thing.

This wasn't MSM. It was local news. They no longer whitewash border or drug news in Phoenix, anywhere in Arizona, really... Too many families have been affected by illegal immigration and the flow of drugs coming across the border on a daily basis.

They interviewed the District Attorney in the report. It was the DA that said the AZ Representatives were unaware. BTW, this isn't the first issue to crop up the State Rep's were in the dark.

First of all, I never said railroading, nor have I called them heroes.

Good Lord! Just as every other human being on the planet does, I am expressing myself in my own way. Everything being alleged about this case can be summed up -- in my words -- as railroading the two former agents. Secondly, plenty of people around FR, including several on this, by now lengthy thread, call them heroes. I am reflecting that.

In blunt, plain language, if everything that is being alleged to have been done against those agents, then there can be no other term for what happened to them. They were railroaded. And yes, that is the natural and only conclusion that could be drawn from what politicians, talk radio, and plenty of people around here allege.

Hiring agents is one thing, pissant. But then, they require extensive training. There is a special school for BP agents; the training is at least one year. I know you want to believe all is well but it is not.

I want to stick to facts, but the problem is those facts get stranger and stranger. The NG has no military duties. They function as engineers and office help. When they do have weapons, they reportedly have no ammo for them.

You mentioned ICE a ways back. There was a report here during the past week that local law enforcement -- perhaps Phoenix area --- stopped vans, trucks, etcetera packed with 15-30 illegals each. Of course, the jumped out, ran, scattered but LE picked up many of them and detained them.

Despite repeated calls to ICE for agents to come and bust the illegals, they were told there was not enough personnel to send, and eventually they had to release the invaders.

Whatever the supposed increase in BP agents that is finally coming about, you are aware that the Homeland Security Bill 2004 called for 10,000 new agents and at the time, the Bush administration cut that back to a few hundred ...

You said that before, but you still haven't told us more about Ted Poe as I asked before.

I would really like to know what you know about the man.

I am in favor of the President stepping in and pardoning or commuting the sentence of these two men.

I am in favor of first allowing the initial appeals process to reach its conclusion. I am also in favor of what the President has said he is doing, which is to review the case. If the conviction is overturned, great. If it is not, that's fine by me also, because I can't form an opinion on the merits of the case either way. I don't have the facts (and don't accept all the yammering on talk radio and on these boards as facts). Same thing if the President does or does not decide to pardon them.

My keyboard commando opinions are based on the moonbat factor. Of Savage and this thread.

Your response is a pointless attack on Savage. The original poster posted info to anyone interested about Congressman Culberson taking his case concerning these 2 BP Agents to the public via the Savage show. He is doing whatever he can to put pressure on the administration to help these two.

Regardless of your pissant opinion about Savage, Mr Culberson was wise to use Savage's show as but one GOOD option in getting the message out.

I do NOT think all is well. It has not been all "well" even back in 1982-87 when I lived in Arizona. Back then no one even bothered to try to detain them, best I could tell.

My point is simple.

Bush had NOTHING to do with the BP agents in question, either their screw ups or the prosecution or the jury. ANd the g'damn freaks crawling out from their rocks on this thread show me the left has nuttin on the birchers here.

Actually, I haven't been listening to talk radio on this case, I've actually been reading what real data is available on the case.

I've slowly but surely lost respect for "W" in the past few months. This is the final straw. Let them impeach him and Cheney become the POTUS.

Partially true.

You overlooked the key words in my sentence. Our land borders have been wide open since the founding of the Republic. This is stone cold true. You cite some of our historically erratic immigration enforcement actions. That is one thing. Physically closing the borders is something else. We have never done it. Not in the best of times; not in the worst of times.

I'd have to do some research if I wanted to find out exactly when we even set up formal border crossings. However, we have been a nation for about 220-230 years (depending on which date one accepts as the beginning). We have had formal border crossings for only a fraction of that time.

Then you are to be commended for doing your own thinking instead of following the herd.

Why is it assumed that if a person takes a certain position other than yours they are "following the herd". Isn't that as big a generalization as "real" conservative. In your own round about way you manage to throw in your fair share of name calling.
