(CNSNews.com) - Weeks after accusing President Bush of "shameful" behavior over the imprisonment of two Border Patrol agents who shot an unarmed suspected drug smuggler along the U.S.-Mexico border, a federal lawmaker turned up the heat further Wednesday, suggesting the president should be impeached if either of the two men is murdered in prison.

Which is exactly what we have been trying in a polite manner to tell you happened here.

I'm not an idiot. I know precisely what is being alleged. I have been replying that if the allegations are true, then the appeal should be a slam dunk. Problem is most, if not all of you who have been debating with me do not want the appeal to go forward. You want the President to intervene and pardon them -- and you apparently do not have the slightest problem when one or two congressmen (from my state) use the threat of impeachment to try to force him to comply with your wishes.

That's crossing a line I won't go with you or anyone, because it shreds the Constitution.

It was on Phoenix, Channel 12 news tonight, investigative report and an interview with the Phoenix District Attorney who is picking up the slack.. a directive came down from DC that the Phoenix US Attorney's office would no longer prosecute drug runners caught with under 500 pounds of drugs.

Not wanting to let them just go free as they were getting off with the Feds, Phoenix DA is filing charges. Our Arizona Congressmen were unaware of this directive until the DA sent a delgation to DC to meet with the Arizona represenatives and fill them in on this turn of events.

I'm damn sick of the bircher conspiracy theorists pulling fantasies out from their pieholes. And blaming Bush for every damn problem with the gov't under the sun.

No I didn't say it was one thing to have it on paper... better go back and re-read... what I said was what effect would it have on the AG's directive?

I never addressed the impeachment threat one way or the other... I wasn't even in favor of impeaching Clinton because of what it puts the country through, so why would I want to see Bush impeached??? answer: I wouldn't.

To create the chilling effect that it has created.

Bwahahahahahaha...what chilling effect? All I see and hear is overheated rhetoric and a headache for the President that he doesn't need.

Earth to editor-surveyor. Our land borders have been wide open since the founding of the Republic.

No, I win on the argumetns, every damn time as well. This thread would make the cheney-halliburton-oil war conspiracies on DU seem tame. Bush the evil drug lord. Loves the mezcans and hates the BP. It's sick.

"It's shameful this was done by someone who is in the Republican Party," Rohrabacher added, saying Bush "obviously thinks more about his agreements with Mexico than the lives of American people and backing up his defenders."

I hate to say it, but if this were Clinton in the White House not pardoning these men, I can only imagine what the reaction would be on this website. Putting impeachment aside, Bush is walking a very fine line. The bitter irony to all this is that, if one of the agents is killed in prison, the Dems might even jump on the bandwagon of hate just to attack Bush all the more, if they can find some concrete way to connect the corrupt Sutton to the higher chain of command.

Does that mean they were planning on letting them go, or asking the state to help. Please post the story.

I never addressed the impeachment threat one way or the other...

The title of this thread is "Border Agent's Death Would Spark Impeachment Talks, Republican Says." That is what I have been arguing against throughout this entire debate, not the merits (or lack thereof) of the court case.

I wasn't even in favor of impeaching Clinton because of what it puts the country through, so why would I want to see Bush impeached???

Neither was I, so that suggests we have more in common politically than this debate would indicate.

Post 338:

It's one thing to double it on paper and another to actually fund and hire the agents...

No, but it is the natural and only conclusion to be drawn from the allegations being made about the railroading of the two "heroes."

First of all, I never said railroading, nor have I called them heroes. You give people way too little credit. It certainly isn't the only conclusion, nor is it natural.

I was headed to bed and it dawned on me you went way back into the thread... yes, they "may" be hiring BP agents, but they are not fulfulling the community grants they promised communities in border states to help them train officers to work with ICE. On "paper" they said Maricopa county could have 40 officers trained, but only approved one and ignored all other requests for info as to why.... same thing locally, they are still fighting to get even one officer trained in the program.

It's the same as building the border fence.. one thing to approve it, another to fund it.

It's pretty hard to post what you watch on the nighttime local news, I watched and typed as the report was being given so I could get it down correctly.... yes, the feds were letting them go, finally Phoenix DA said no we will prosecute so we taxpayers in AZ are picking up the slack for the government so these drug runners don't get a free ride...

Think about it: How long before they carefully weight their drugs so the mules are only carrying 499 pounds. Same as kids being coerced in gangs to commit the crimes for the older gang bangers, knowing the kids won't get the same sentence.

To be clear, I am not in favor of impeaching the President, I am in favor of the President stepping in and pardoning or commuting the sentence of these two men. I have read enough of the available evidence to feel this was a railroad job.

"Earth to editor-surveyor. Our land borders have been wide open since the founding of the Republic"

Partially true.

During the 1800's there were strong prohibitions against importing Asians.

This was lifted a little during the early 19th century so we could make kissy face with Japan.

In the 1930's Roosevelt kicked out the illegals to make jobs for the Dust Bowl families (folks were expect to work for a living then).

During WW2, following the Zoot Suit riots, again mass deportation took place in certain cities of California.

And Eisenhower ordered a clean out in the fifties.

Going to Savage is teh equivalent of suicide.

Regardless of your simple keyboard commando opinion, getting a message out and asking for action from an audience of millions from the #3 radio talk show host in the country I wouldn't exactly call suicide.

This was my first thought when I read your post. I can just see the border patrol agents weighing the stash at the crossings now......407lbs, yes go right through. Next please.
