any Federal government employee or particularly, elected official, should be punished harshly for any crimes committed using their position of trust as an instrument or crutch to cover, abbett, or support said crime
"I would actually say every one of those things and mean in it earnest."
Which is EXACTLY what we need ... Statesmen.
No politicians need apply.

hehehe...thanks for the vote of confidence, but I am afriad it is not in the cards. I just pray for someone who has the means to come along and reflect these types of principles. I believe, sooner or later, that prayer will be answered in the affirmative and that the American epople themselves will put that person in office.
Bingo...Amen!
FYI.
More important is what they DO!
Bubba had all kinds of pretty speeches .. but he did diddly squat about what he said.
Personal convictions and acting on them are what forged our nations founding and gave us the documents the gentlemen who met could agree to. Would Jefferson, Franklin, or Henry, have stood by while year after year session after session of congress the rights they believed in were not only taken away by force of law but in many cases willfully surrendered by many for political gain? On that I mean gun laws.
We have to pick our leaders far better than we have been. We must begin choosing each one based on their own worthiness such as moral character and longterm standings on issues. That alone should be the litmus test for office. Forget electability and popularity contest as voting such a way will destroy this nation as we are seeing at an ever increasing rate.
We have several good choices this time and the National Media is keeping them out of the limelight and pushing us into once again a popularity contest of evils and political compromises with disastrous results. That is something that we as voters can control.
He was a good orator, and he was smooth, and he could turn on the charm...but no matter how hard you try (or he might try in this case) he just cannot sugar coat a cow paddy.
I do not believe any liberal or any emeny to these United States would find the words above "pretty". Having said that, it goes without question that such words would have to be a true reflection of a willingness to act in each area accordingly and forthrightly.
BTW, but if you do run, you can use my tagline as a campaign slogan!:)
So...inaugurated on January 20 and figure the impeachment proceedings will start, what, by January 30th?
Poltics for career needs to end... and that can only happen when the voters reject it wholesale in favor of statesmanship for service to country.
That's a speech I'd LOVE to hear. Thanks, Jeff.
So, if such an indivisdual were elected at the Presidential level, perhaps a like-minded congress would be swept into office at the same time.
Otherwsie...you bet, the carreer politician congress-critters, particularly the left, would do all in their power to get such an individual out of office.
You and me both...hence the post, hehehe.
Yeah, but you can't rule by decree. There that little document called the Constitution that says you can't. You can't order the troops to the border with enforcement powers because federal law prevents that. You cannot declare the Roe v Wade decision unconstitutional because only the Supreme Court can do that. You can't send illegal aliens to the border whatever period you decide is commensurate with their infraction because the 13th Amendment prevents that. And you can't overturn state laws on gun control because the Constitution gives them the power to regulate militias. So you go around and try doing what you said and it'll be a Democrat's wet dream.
Sorry, Jeff, but what you wrote under the "Free Trade" banner could hardly be described as such. Maybe "Treatment of Totalitarian Regimes" might have been a better umbrella.
A good paragraph about free trade could be: The US government shall not make or enforce any laws that seek to restrict or regulate trade of any kind between individuals or their assignees or entities including all manners of corporations excepting trade of weapons of mass destruction or narcotics. Further, "trade" shall be defined as exchange of goods, services, currency, equities and all other forms of voluntary exchange.
There. I think that puts an end to a lot of things that make me mad including minimum wage, trade and travel embargoes, and all regulations. Cool.
