Iran successfully tests its system of Russian anti-aircraft defence
TEHERAN - Iran tested successfully its new system of delivered anti-aircraft defence Russian TOR-M1 less than one month ago by Russia in spite of criticisms of the United States, declared Wednesday a high person in charge military Iranian, quoted by the Isna agency.
“We tested successfully the system of anti-aircraft defence TOR-M1 during the operations Saegheh (the lightning)” which began Wednesday morning in the area of the Gulf and at sea of Oman, declared the general Hossein Salami, the commander of the Air Force of the Guards of the revolution.
“The system of anti-aircraft defence TOR-M1 is able to reach light planes, fast planes and modern missiles of cruising and can be launched in less than one second and to be rearmed immediately”, it added.
Tested on what's left of their pitiful air force, no doubt. That's about all the use it has.....as practice targets and drones.
Their air and naval air force are still very much up and running. They have the money and invested heavily on reverse-engineering to keep their US fleet active. I've served in the region and they still generate healthy sortie rates. Regular CAPS and MARCAPs. Yes, they would be totally outclassed in the event of sustained combat, but they are still very much up and active.
