But...But... But... There's a little "R" after his name. Doesn't that make everything OK?

During the debate in Congress the Giuliani lawsuit was specifically referred to as an example of the kind of "junk" lawsuit the law is intended to stop. Need to save this for other threads :>)

If Rudy gets the nomination (God forbid), imagine the following scenario:
It's October and your 2008 election voter guide from the NRA comes in the mail. You open it up and see that neither the Republican (Rudy) nor the Democrat (Obama) are endorsed by the NRA. In fact, both are lambasted as hostile to gun ownership and RKBA. As a result the NRA endorses a 3rd Party candidate (Mr. X).
The same thing happens when the GOA voter guide arrives.
Now, how exactly is this NOT a HUGE disaster for the GOP? Especially when one considers that the pro-life/pro-family groups' voter guides will say the same thing??

Voting for Rudy basically gets you this guy with a little "R" after his name:

Just one final statement.
I've been sitting here getting more and more fed up with all of this talk about these, pieces of machinery, having no legitimate sporting purpose, no legitimate hunting purpose, people, that is not the point of the second amendment!
The second amendment is not about duck hunting, and I know I'm not going to make very many friends saying this, but it's about our right, all of our right to be able to protect our selves from all of you guys up there.
And nobody's talked about that.

This is a crock. Rudy governed New York City as a New Yorker. The public ASKED for more gun control. There is no indication so far that he will try to apply New York City standards to the entire United States. He will project the plank that endorses him.

The Giuliani lawsuit is still pending and being aggressively pursued by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. No doubt this will be in opposition campaign ads.
Just say NO to Rudy.

To purchase a gun in the State of New York you have to give your full name, your date of birth, your residence, your occupation. You have to prove that you're a United States citizen, you have to show you are of good character, competency and integrity. And you have to demonstrate a real need for the weapon.
And thanks in part to our stricter gun control laws, crime is down dramatically in New York City. Shootings are down over 50 percent. Murder is down over 50 percent...
We need a federal law that bans all assault weapons, and if in fact you do need a handgun you should be subjected to at least the same restrictions -- and really stronger ones...

In 2005, President Bush signed legislation into law that barred such lawsuits after Congress, by a broad bipartisan margin, passed the bill. During the debate in Congress the Giuliani lawsuit was specifically referred to as an example of the kind of "junk" lawsuit the law is intended to stop. Two years for this to be repeated.

Unfortunately for the Rudy haters, they don't have a realistic candidate they can rally around. They will split their vote among Duncan Hunter, Gingrich, Brownback, Tancredo, etc and Rudy will waltz to victory. Why? Because a plurality of Republicans LIKE Rudy Giuliani and want to vote for him. Simple as that.

Personally, I will not vote for him because of this issue. If that contributes to John Edwards or Hillary being elected so be it. I'm not totally inflexible, but I'm not Gumby either. If the R's nominate someone who is an East Coast gun grabbing elitist I really would rather have my "do what we think is good for the children" medicine administered by the Donkey Presidentette.

We already knew that. Rudy was telling the gullible Hannity that he was in favor of the 2nd Amendment, "except in populous areas". Hannity ate it up with a spoon.
To: 300magnum
I like Rudy. He is a dynamic leader dedicated to fighting terrorism. But because of his record on gun control and abortion, I cannot vote for him. If it was only a single issue, I'd overlook. But it's not.
