---"I must have missed something.
Rudy is clearly for amnesty. He calls it earned amnesty. He'll never get my vote. I'll vote 3rd party.
And he's against any fence. Except that invisible technological one. What a complete farce."---

There are so many issues - SO many issues - on which Rudy Giuliani is a disaster to the Conservative movement. But remember - this is an organized effort. Be on guard, there are forces who are working tirelessly to marginalize and eliminate true Conservatives from this party, and destroy the influence of many grassroots organizations. They are very loud and very united, and they want Rudy badly.

"(Roe vs. Wade) is good law, yes." -- Rudy Giuliani on This Week with Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts (The week of February 6th , 2000).

My advice is, tell your neighbors and get out and volunteer to spead the truth about Rudy to those who are unaware.

He's too East Coast.

Hey...what's wrong with the East Coast? Do you hear us say someone is too Southern or too Midwestern or too Californian?

As I said on another thread, one has to be an American to hold the Presidency. Rudy is from New York, so he is disqualified. ;-)

Jeez, Clemenza...what did New York DO to you??? You seem to slam us in every post. I think your comment was totally uncalled for.

Outstanding! Transitioning from Dick Morris interview to Hillary on the couch. I marvel at your talent, your focus. :) Thanks.

"Short-sighted? The only short-sightedness is thinking Giuliani could actually win the Presidential nomination, let alone a National election. He's too East Coast."

You might be surprised. I was having cocktails a week ago with a very politically diverse group. Without exception, they all liked Guiliani. Liberal, moderate, and conservative. I found his cross-over appeal quite interesting.

And don't discount Guiliani's ability to work a crowd. I was at the 2004 RNC Convention and he was the most electrifying speaker I think I've ever seen. He was greeted like a rockstar.

I do not agree with most of his social issues, but those are all secondary to me when it comes to national security. Abortion, guns, gay rights, et al are all moot if I'm dead from a terrorist attack. If he appoints constructionist judges likes he's indicated, the social issues will take care of themselves.

It will be interesting to see how he does in the Rebublican primaries. If he makes a poor showing, it would not surprise me if he pulls a Lieberman and runs as an Independent. I think his cross-over appeal is enough to get him elected.

Our's is a two-party system. Additional apparent options are exactly only that--apparent. They are illusions. We have only two real choices. D or R. And an R vote not cast is a de facto D. That's how the first clinton won. Twice. (The first time with only 43 percent.)

I believe neither Giuliani nor his motivation is "evil."
He says he hates abortion: (He dramatically decreased abortions and increased adoption during his tenure as mayor. He says he will appoint judges in the mold of Roberts, Alito and Scalia.)
He believes in the 2nd amendment.
He is a proven warrior against evil.
He is our best hope to get a handle on the war AND the terrorists to save no less than our democracy, our civilization.

Last night, I heard a man of rare intelligence, humility, warmth, competence, strength and leadership.
We will be fortunate, indeed, and our babies, born and unborn, living and not yet imagined, will be infinitely safer, if he is our next president.

His cross-over appeal is self-evident. It seems from Morris' report that the leaders of the conservative movement understand his unique strengths and will support him.

This cross-over appeal will not only get him elected. It will enable him to govern.

IF Mr. Giuliani can deal with his own non-conservative social beliefs and not take away our guns...maybe I could vote for him. Currently I'm leaning toward Duncan Hunter.

Rudy will appoint strict constructionists to the bench,...

Given his past record of appointing while Mayor, why should I believe that he would appoint judges who would contradict the majority of his personal positions.

Actions speak louder than words.

"Too Liberal is why we lost Congress this last time around." Total nonsense since EVERY conservative Senator running LOST. Many solid conservatives in the House LOST. Most of those basing their appeal on anti-Illegal Immigration stands LOST. Now the anti-Illegal House has been replaced by one which will vote with the now LESS conservative Senate on that issue.

The American electorate in NO way can be called conservative. Running people capable of winning only in Utah or South Carolina will not keep the White House no matter how much you might LIKE that idea.

So, it's to H3II with our ideals, we just want a guy that will win? A conservative will only win in Utah or South Carolina? That's good to know.

I don't consider Rudy a Reagan by any means, but as far as I can see, he's the most effective conservative leader we've had since the Great One. Despite the venom we see here on the FREEP for Rudy, I believe he will be well accepted by conservatives across the country -- and bringing back those Reagan Democrats we need for our political majorities. JMHO.

Ditto BUMP

And I believe he's our best hope in defeating Hillary Chavez!

How does Giuliani's NYC illegal alien sanctuary policy fight all the way to the Supreme Court jibe with presuming he'll only back strict constructionists?

It doesn't. His support of Alito and Scalia does, as does his own record on limiting affirmative action in NYC.

Actually I think the libs strategy was great. They went moderate and then threw fake conservatives at the electorate. Next time around they will go a bit more to the left... and on and on.

Conservatives are afraid to fight. You cannot win a war if you are afraid to cause some collateral damage. In 2008 we should go all out Conservative and let the chips fall where they may. Put up strong Conservative opposition to the Collins wing of the Republican party.

And don't forget to call her a RINO. Accuse her of it. Force her and others like her to defend liberal positions. They do not represent us.
