You're liberal crystal ball is working fine. But I wouldn't bet the farm on Rudy being the GOP`s chosen one. Rudy is trying to ignore his own liberal roots, and pass himself off as something he is not. By NYCity standards, Rudy maybe a conservative. In the end, red state social conservatives and southern religious conservatives won't buy what Rudy is selling.
