You need to cite it properly. It is SA 187 to HR2. Snowe job and Sunununuunu cosponsored the Kerry Amendment. Amendment SA 187 was agreed to in Senate by Unanimous Consent on January 24th.
Why didn't we hear abot this back then? http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/R?r110:FLD001:S01121

Kerry's Amendment 187 is an amendment to renew grants for women's business centers. It has nothing to do with immigration.

Check out page s1044 of the Congressional Record.

Worse than that. It's a merger of Mexico US and Canada.

We'll be called "Americanists" and headed by a regional "board" - not elected by the way.

You can get all the details if you google "SPP" or NAU, North American Union.

Been in the works for years. They've just "forgotten" to tell the voters.

Wasn't this board always KNOWN for activism, and for getting the news out about this stuff?

I'm astonished that so few have contributed to this thread.

To correct an apparent misstatement, it should be thus:

"It is SA 187 to HR2."

Please re-look up that.

It's actually SA 187, an amendment replacing SA 112, which is an amendment to SA 100, which is an amendment to HR2. And it is the amendment I linked to in the prior post, regarding services to women, NOT immigration. To repeat: look at S1044 of the Congressional record.

The immigration amendment was the one Kennedy tried to attach to Sessions' SA 143. At one point in the record, it's on the same page as Kerry's SA 187. Both the Kennedy amendment (SA 180) and the Sessions amendment are not in the final legislation. The closest thing to immigration that you'll find in the final legislation relates to government contractors who hire aliens.

Don't take my word for it, feel free to read the entire text of HR2 as passed by the Senate here. http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/t2GPO/http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=110_cong_bills&docid=f:h2eas.txt.pdf

The immigration amendment was the one Kennedy tried to attach to Sessions' SA 143.

Why is Kennedy trying to sneak through his abomination by way of an amendment? It must be he doesn't think the votes are there to either stop a filibuster or other parliamentary moves if the bill is brought up on its own.

Nah.. essentially, it was the old 'organ measuring' routine.

Sessions proposed to attach an amendment that would make it illegal to hire aliens, so Kennedy responded by trying to modify Sessions' amendment into an immigration reform package. Just the same old 'in your face' stuff that goes on behind the scenes all the time among the 'adults' running 'America's most deliberative body'.

From a 2/6/07 entry here:

http://www.numbersusa.com/hottopic/congress.html

It has come to our attention that some believe that the dreadful McCain-Kennedy amnesty scheme was dropped into the bill during its passage through the Senate, but NumbersUSA’s analysis of that chamber’s proceedings indicates that those damaging provisions were not, in fact, amended into the measure before it was sent back to the House on February 1.

Maybe and I've seen what you're talking about. But I wouldn't put it past them to try and slip amnesty or other unpopular immigration bills in this way.

I never was able to tell heads or tails about this.

But I did run across an article that explains what is going on with this.

There is an inaccuracy in the third paragraph. It states that the H5 is "pathway for amnesty". H5B is the path to amnesty visa and H5A is a temporary guest worker visa( 3 years plus 3 years) as shown in the next to last paragraph with the 400,000 quota.

I don't start threads, but I suggest you start a new thread on this article. This is very significant. Ping me to the thread if you do.
