Watch and see how the smell of money (and her ability to produce it) will help keep her as a formidable front runner.

You're absolutely correct. Anybody who says she won't be the nominee is blowing smoke.

I was wondering if any of the Rudy supporters could answer how Rudy is different that a Democrat like Joe Lieberman? Both are socially liberal, in favor of gun control & affirmative action, and both are strong on defense and crime. What's the difference besides the party designation?

I made this same observation yesterday. When you get right down to the pure politics of it, Dick Gephardt is actually to the right of Rudy.

I think 2008 is the GOP last major chance to reform itself and Rudi isn't the answer. Run him and Whigg will be a term used to describe the GOP's future beyond that.

I don't think so, but we'll see, hopefully he won't be the nominee.

I work with an individual who recently came to our agency (the one I work for) from the border patrol. He got out because so much of what he was seeing was nothing more than window dressing by the politicians to try and appease the Americans citizens who are fed up with the problem, but were not efforts that would actually fix the problems.

His own words are that the National Guard missions on the border to this point are a joke. He finally decided he had to get him and his family away. It is a sad thing when decent, hard-working, honest, and patriotic, committed Americans like this individual develop such a jaundiced view of the politicians efforts...but the attitude he has developed in not un-deserved.

The MSM and its rigged polls are promoting Rudy so much that I know its a trap and will vote accordingly.

You can bet that the media and particularly the NYTs is sitting on plenty of sensationalized stuff on Rudy from waaaay back, way before his mayorship. It will be released at a propitious time.

Remember, this happened in the Foley scandal.

Rudy's enemy is not the conservative base which would generously give him a very fair primary shot in the "let the best person win" tradition. But it's the pirhannas in the liberal media who will lay back to slaughter him at the right time.

We know the MSM is salivating over Hillary behind the scenes and will do anything to assist her with anything it takes, moral, amoral or immoral.

Rudy is against gay marriage We have said this many many times.

Rudy has said repeatedly that he is FOR GAY DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIPS which have the same legal weight, under law, as Marriages. He's using semantics and you're being fooled. He opposed the Federal Marriage Amendment which would have allowed states to set their own laws banning gay marriage and domestic partnerships without interference from judical activist judges. And he's best buddies with several radical gay groups which advocate for gay marriage, domestic partnerships, gay adoption, and an openly gay military. So you can SAY it many many times, but it doesn't make it true!

Ah, and you would be a 'volunteer' I suppose. ;

To win the presidency, you have to hold your base and pull in swing voters like Reagan Democrats. That should be plain as day by now. You cannot do both from the far left of the GOP. The base won't be enthused and the Reagan Dems won't be able tell the difference between the donkey and the pubbie.

Failing to do both is the fault of the candidate and the party, not the voters.

LIEberman has been one of my Senators for 17 years! I think that I know him and his record far better than you do. And NO, I did NOT vote for him EVER!

Oh please.....I and the vast majority of those who aren't constantly trashing Rudy here, talk about his record and his stances on all sorts of topics; especially his being a TAX CUTTER, that he actually CUT THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT, that he did away with set aside, is against affirmative action, doesn't have any use for the UN, wouldn't allow Arafat the run of N.Y.C., cut crime, faced down unions, and on and on and on.

Your bias and abject lack of knowledge blinds you.

Bingo. I would venture to guess that the bulk of the Blue Dogs are to the right of Rudy as well on many issues.

When did that happen?

Presumably between 2001 and 2004 the government accomplished reconnaissance cameras, border patrol agents, and unmanned aerial flights have all been increased at the border. In addition, BorderPatrol agents now have sweeping new powers to deport illegal aliens

I missed it too.

Unfortunately we must have some kind of "guest worker" program because we have killed 17% of our population since 1973.

There are other solutions. We could deport illegals, prosecute employers, and reform the immigration system if we need more warm bodies. We are going to get one. I'd support one if it included deporting criminals, mandatory health and liability insurance, and no citizenship path. And strict enforcement of the laws, particularly employers.

Getting back to the original track, a guest worker program was a part of the platform, which didn't take a particularly hard line on immigration.

Too many disinformation bits, lies, distortions and omission to enumerate.

Pick one or two, then. Shouldn't be all that hard if there are as many as you claim there are.

It doesn't matter how much money she has, she'll have to go door to door handing it out and getting a promissory from the individual guaranteeing they'll vote for her, with threat of marcy park in their future if they fail to follow through.

She ain't gonna make it as prez.

In looking at the current Republicans running the best combo I could come up with is Romney/Gingrich ticket.......

Cheney IMO would make for the best POTUS IMO, but it "ain't" gonna' happen.

I'm leaning towards supporting Rudy because I believe he is a strong leader, that he will prosecute the WOT as well or better than Bush, that he can win and that he won't threaten my conservative beliefs. But, if I hear him say anything that threatens gun ownership (I used to hunt, but now I enjoy shooting sporting clays, trap and skeet), or if he intends to expand abortion rights in any way (I know he said he opposes partial birth abortion, but I hope he comes out in favor of States' rights to restrict abortions), then I'm gone.

The problem is that the party is not producing any new, upcoming, personable, conservative candidates. Rick Santorum was probably the only one I could think of. And look what happened to him. If we have to bring out retreads like Newt, what does that say about the future of the party?

My bold, which is the crux of the problem. The Dems eventually saw the light, at least a little political light, on gun control. At some point one party or the other, I wouldn't presume it will be the R's, will decide the anti-illegal vote just might outweigh contributions from the business community and the support of pundits.
